MX4 Bakflip is AWESOME. It allows access to almost the entire bed when folded up and is almost completely weatherproof except in the heaviest downpours.

I love my Diamondback! Its very convenient and secure. I spent 2 weeks driving around Baja, Mexico with a lot of expensive sports equipment in the bed, and I wasn't worried at all.

Get a tonneau cover (I have a rough country II that I am very happy with), along with an oem bed mat to prevent cargo from sliding around.

I think you’ll find a hard cover and bed mat will really increase the utilization of the bed for things you may used to carrying in the trunk of a car. Get a milk crate or trunk, etc. to have a place to put your laptops or groceries etc.

Ignore the snarky remarks on here man. A lot of people have trucks and use them around town with a family for practical things. Give the Tacoma a chance before you trade it in for an SUV or, god forbid, a ridge line.

Damn -- great looking truck. Are you lifted a couple inches, or is that stock?

I've also got a rubber bedmat and a cargo net across the back thet I just hook up with carabiner clips for groceries or other store items I don't want rolling around. Unhook one side and toss it aside when I don't need it. Have an "essentials" tote (jumper cables, tow strap, gloves etc.) and a little toolbox as well. Works out very nicely.

    Thanks!

I just did bilstein 5100s, OME 885s, and an AAL in the rear - got about 2" overall
Then I put on the the TRD pro wheels with KO2 285/70R17 tires to complete the look.
Just got it all wrapped up on New Years Eve, so I'm really stoked about it - this is how I have wanted the truck to look all along!

I got a tiger cover and OEM bed mat. In my case I don't need the rear seats so I took the bottoms out and just fold down the backs. Lots of space there. I also bought a couple plastic covered bins from Walmart and use them in the bed when I carry things that need smaller containment. It works good for me. As far as the cover, I was worried about it flying off so I ziptied the ce yet support as a backup just in case it ever started to go, it won't go. I thought about a 4runner but I already have 2 other SUVs so preferred a truck. So for u, bed cover , bed mat, a couple of the large bins and it may be all u need.

+1 to That one old guy, exactly what I have done and has served my really well for all my needs. I went with the Tyger tri-fold myself and for the price point, it’s been fantastic

Sounds like you’re not a trucker.
I use a crossover toolbox, not 100% secure, but then again a laptop in the vehicle isn’t either. They are cheap, water tight, removable, allows bed access and lockable

It’s your truck, use as you want, everything else is just noise. I LOVE my Diamondback tonneau cover. 99% waterproof, super secure, and the SE can hold 500lbs on top. I think it looks as tough as it is. Mounted my through forks to it for my mountain bikes and my @KB Voodoo rack goes over the top when I’m off road. The rack goes on and off with 4 bolts. All in all a perfect set up for me, I think tonneau covers are a great option. Diamondbacks aren’t cheap, but buy once cry once and I NEVER worry about security of the rear, it’s the windows that are vulnerable. The cover takes about 5 minutes to take off as well if I need to haul in the bed.

This. If it's a taco, great. If not, move on and get something different. It sounds like for several reasons a truck may not be for you, but it's less about the vehicle and more about the person.

I had the opposite experience in that I found myself needing a truck and feeling underserved by an SUV. But it was due to the lifestyle.
