drove a 2011 ranger before i picked up my 2019 sr5 last year. If your feeling like the tacoma lacks power just take one of those for a spin and you'll feel alot better about the taco 3.5 haha. the ranger could take a beating but for a 4.0 it felt like i was better off cutting a hole in the floorboard and going Flintstones style at some times. heard the new rangers are a lot quicker but they could have done alot better with designing the exterior IMO

Same here had a titan as well took a huge adjustment with the lack of room/power getting into this one but expected it as much.

Yeah...... I miss the power of the 6.0L beast that powered my GMC2500HD. I don't miss the fuel hungry monster.

Hmmm...... odd how that works. More Power needs more fuel..........damn physics.

It's no rocket ship that's for sure, but if you let it rev it'll get the job done.

You guys saying it lacks power are thinking like McRib over here...

Get them revs near the ketchup. It moves just fine.

    100%. Taco felt like a rocketship after my 2007 4.0 5spd ranger.

I guess it is a matter of perspective. I traded a 2002 F150 Supercrew 4x4 with the 4.6L V8 for my 2007 Tacoma. That Ford engine was woefully underpowered. When I traded to the Tacoma I gave up 10HP, but I also gave up 1500 lbs. My Tacoma would blow the doors off my old Ford and was rated to tow 700 lbs more than the Ford.

The Tacoma has been the best truck I've ever owned, but after a while it became just too small and I'm back in a 2014 F150 Supercrew 4X4, but this time with the 5.0 V8. We kept the Tacoma too. Yea, the V8 is faster, tows a lot more and only gets about 1-2 mpg worse than the Tacoma. But the old Tacoma still handles well enough in the mountains. I took it on 4 road trips through the Rockies and never felt underpowered. I've never driven the new 3.5 so I can't say.

    this and that...
i dont miss my v8s, be it the tuned 6.7 scorpion powerstroke or the 5.7 iforce if its any sort of excursion. i actually look forward to taking my sport through the elevation up mauna kea to get to the other side of the island. virus tuned and a notchy 6spd makes the quick blitz enjoyable. the only time ill miss v8 power would be if i need to transport 7 or 8 people, or to tow the skid steer.

You do need to rev this engine out. Peak power is near redline.

My Taco gets about the same gas mileage as my 5.7 Tundra did.
