Well, it had been about four years since I had a nice car I cared about, last one was a Subaru WRX. Now that I have my tacoma I'm babying it because that's what I like to do. One of the best parts about having a car that has a following like the Tacoma is going to meets and doing these trail drives everyone is into back in the states. Sadly I am not in the states now, i'm in Guam. I spend about 30 min to an hour, depending on how busy I am, each day reading on here the various threads posted.
Every day it never fails I read about something that is going on somewhere in the states and I get jealous. I would gladly do a day drive, just to meet up somewhere cool and hop on a trail with everyone. Two more years and it's on. Sorry, just had to let everyone now how much cooler you all are than me right now. Take advantage of it while you have it. Who knows, someday you might decide to go live in the middle of the Ocean with nothing around.

Those of us who have been in your situation know what it's like to be somewhere outside of Conus without family. I have been to Thailand (12 month short tour) and Okinawa (18 month unaccompanied long tour). I would have liked to visit Guam, but didn't get the chance. A three year tour isn't a lot of fun, but enjoy your tour. Try to get off the island and visit some of the other countries while your there. You'll have cultural experiences that many others envy. Thanks for serving.

Ahhh Guam. I was just there in February. Chances are I'll be there again in about a month for another 2-3 weeks. I feel your pain (although for a shorter period of time). Guam is TINY. I was only there for a week the first time out and drove around the island in a day. Go get some BBQ at the Chamorro Village in Hagatna on Wed night and enjoy the scenery.

I'll post up some pics soon for those of you that would like to see some. Just so everyone knows, I don't hate it here. I just miss being able to get away for the weekend. I miss the diversity the lower 48 has to offer.
I have definitely taken advantage of Guam while I've been here. Luckily my job requires that. I've dove in quite a few spots around here. I've been able to see the island while hanging out of a helo and looking out the back of a c130 standing on a ramp. It's been exciting and I don't see that ending anytime soon.
I think it's just one of those things, you don't realize what you had until it's gone. It is true though, I don't think I'll ever be content where I am. That's the joy in life I think though. So long as one can keep exploring new places, I don't want to be hunkered down in just one. Based out of one fine, but not stuck there.
Almost forgot, the infinity setup is awesome. It's amazingly clear and with the JL 10W3's it's the perfect amount of bass. I couldn't be happier with it actually.
