Hoping to install lift this year. I have floor stands but realized my only jack is a Craftsman aluminum motorcycle jack. I'd like a good, reliable, non-leaky jack for my shop & taco. What are your recommendations? I'm eying the 3 -ton Craftsman service jack. I'd prefer aluminum if they're strong enough for a taco. Thanks y'all!

Go to Costco they have arcan floor jacks. I've had mine for 3 years and love it. I thinking it's a 3.5 ton jack.

IMO Costco has a really sweet floor jack and it is a really good deal . I have the blue aluminum 2.5 ton floor jack from autozone and I have had it for a couple of years and I love it , Its really light , easy to handle and I have no problem with the seals . I would recommend it .

what kind of height is needed for a jack for a TRD? My regular one barely gets the suspension going before it won't go any higher. I used the stupid jack that comes with the truck and it took FOREVER to raise. I couldn't believe that thing kept getting taller.

I have SUV specific jack stands that go to 21" so if imagine a 2.5 ton jack that goes to 22" would do the job.

I picked up the HF, 3 ton aluminumn racing jack a couple years ago. It is working great. I really worried that it was going to be shit, but so far I'm rally impressed. Like you, I seem to have to buy a new jack every 4-5 years. I've tried them all, and they all seem to start to leak down after a couple years. For $20 you can buy the lifetime warrenty from HF.

Still, a lift is the way to go. I love mine, why did I wait so long?

I need to put a couple 2x4s under mine.

The one that comes with the truck is awful, plus it's amazingly inconvenient to turn it to raise it while it's under the truck. Keep meaning to find something else to replace it with and maybe just keep it in there to basically use as a jack stand.

I have this one. Works well, no problems with it.

I went for the 3 ton, it lifts higher, but still a great jack.

I know it's a bit more expensive but Hein-Werner makes the best floor jacks. My dad bought one about 25 years ago (made by lincoln back then) and now I have it. It's been used and abused throughout the years but it still works great!

If you buy the craftsman keep the receipt where you can find it, mine failed on its third use. The second lasted almost a year.

Looked at aluminum 2.5 and 3 ton jacks at HF. I have a 20% off coupon. The 2.5 lifted to 18.75 inches. 3 ton lifted to 19.25 inches. I don't see either lifting high enough for me to have clearance to remove front struts. I've also never done a lift before so I'm assuming it wouldn't lift high enough unless I put some wood blocks between lift and frame.

Then get ready to spend some real money. The 27" lift jacks are pretty spendy and they take up way to much space. 4 x 4 blocks work great.

I'm guessing you intended to lift from the frame only. Toyota allows lifting the entire front of the truck off the front cross over. Its lower then the frame. Once you get it up, you will have jack stands under the truck frame and axle.

I've had the Pittsburgh 2-ton aluminum jack from HF for 3 years now.
No problems and easy to maneuver. I will use 4x4 blocks when removing a wheel, but that's easy enough.
As others have said, pick up the extended warranty, it's a good deal.

Thanks! I'm leaning towards this model. I'll certainly buy the warranty since I have the 20% off coupon.

edit: WAIT! Isn't the V6 dcsb Prerunner curb weight right at 2 tons? Makes me want to go for the 2.5 ton jack to be safe.
double edit: I mean, I would only be lifting up half the weight of the truck at any given time.

All that^^^^ and I'll need clearance to get 5100s eith OME's up in there. I'd need room in back to get the rear end down to put in AALs.
