Hello everyone, my rear end is rusted to shit and my differential is leaking. I want my tacoma to be solid so I am looking into replacing the whole assembly. I have a 4x4 xtra cab with a locking diff. Does anyone know off the top of their head how much parts are for this job?

I've been looking for a rear axle with a locker for my truck. I've seem to run around $800 to $1000 around my neck of the woods. When buying the axle, make sure it has the same gear ratio as the old one.

Whats leaking? If its just the cover leaking you can buy a new cover and have it welded on.

The cover is but the whole thing is rusted to shit. It's literal cancer... Something else is going to leak soon. I put it on the lift today and was chipping away with my finger nail.

After you get 50 posts .....run an WTB ad in the classifieds here.....

there are alot of parts trucks with these guys around here....you might get lucky....

However that particular one is a hot item.....

Down here in the south .....there's lots of parts trucks....FB and craigs list.....you just got to be damn sure what you need...

Thats gonna cost you pretty penny....got to take care of those....inside and out....

you're gonna pay as much for that, or more, than I did for my short block...

I'm already on my third fluid since I bought it......and believe or not.....about 5 coats of chassis epoxy. over the years......VHT

Your axle seals, leaf mounts/shackle mounts.....are probably not far behind....

I'd be questioning the frame if it's that bad.

I think for now I am going to have a new cover welded on as a bandaid then get a whole new rear end when I get the chance
