I need head gasket kit for 96 2.4 taco.
I bought the truck for $1,500. It had a blown head gasket.
I got for my teen to fix up. It is a rust free work truck. It has 300,000 miles, bit dented up, and good compression. from the looks of the internals, It was rebuilt sometime in the past.

I have the head gasket taken out. And need to buy parts to put it back together.

A other forum suggested oem head gasket and fel-pro for the rest of the gaskets.

I am going to check online for 1111575031 Genuine Toyota head GASKET. I think I would like to buy it locally to not get damaged in shipping.

think I need fel-pro gasket kit. Do i need HS 9465 PT or HS 9465 PT-1?
I know i need 10 bolts. fel pro bolts (ES 72182) are expensive.

Buying the full fel-pro kit seems wasteful because I will already have a Genuine Toyota head gasket .
Also is there some place in PHX to take the head to get the ports and mating surfaces cleaned up?

If you can return the head gasket, Toyota makes a complete gasket kit for this job with everything you need.

I don’t remember where I got my head bolts, I’ll look later

@xtremewlr might know a head shop

I'm in Tucson so wouldn't be able to help.

@wrander1. post up in the Arizona sub-forum. Lots of Phoenix guys in there that can probably point you in the right direction for the head work.

And I agree, spend the extra money and get OEM gaskets and parts for this job. The motor will be more reliable for it. Think about it, the stock stuff lasted 300k miles and probably would have gone longer with better maintenance from the previous owner(s).

I see the OEM gasket kit is 30% cheaper online than a local pick up from the dealer.

Online where? There’s a lot of ripoffs online.

    Thanks Thomas670,
    I still have good compression.

Im am sure my kid will break it a lot.
I'll keep it simple and do just the OEM gaskets for now.

head it cleaned. oem gasket is nationwide backordered. will go felpro insteead. heard i should do the fuel filter, waterpump and thermastat at the same time.
I just need to clean the block surface. i found a shop that will put the motor back together for 400 or the whole truck back together for 800

why do you need a head gasket to begin with......

Are you just sticking a warped over heated head back on.........

Toyota 2.4/2.7 2RZ/3RZ 8 port intake Assembled Cylinder Head | King Cylinder Heads

I'd also do new chain, guides, main seal, and oil pump, oil pump seal and HB seal, and check the oil pump seat on the inner timing cover - is it wore out, or hairline crack from wobbling harmonic balancer........new water pump and fan clutch....
