When you say slipping when turning, are you saying the transmission is slipping or the rear diff?

I'm still confused why you think it's slipping? Are you wrapping turns at 50? It shouldn't slip or break traction under normal driving, so how fast are you taking these turns to make it "slip"?

Bro you drove for an hour with no trans fluid and 4.5 quarts overfilled on engine oil? I would expect serious damage to the trans and engine

You need to find a different mechanic if he's not finding anything wrong.

some of this, a little of that
go to the dealer then, if your guy looked at it and said it's fine but it's still doing it then something's wrong. You can't just keep changing the fluid in the rear end endlessly, I mean I guess you could, I wouldn't but you could.

How does he know it's all good? Did he do a compression/leak down test? Obviously everything is not ok if your saying the rear end is slipping. It sounds like you probably have a misfire in the engine from the excessive oil that was in it. The dealer could check the code and see if it's really something to be concerned about, I don't know if autozone tools are up to the task.

This is something that cannot be diagnosed on a forum.

Overfilling oil or driving on low transmission fluid is not going to affect the rearend. Unless of course, the transmission started slipping and you revved it until it caught and snapped/damaged something in the rearend.

Your story thus far is the equivalent of airing up a tire and the windshield wipers stopped working so you are going to change the wiper blades and rotate the tires to fix it.

There has to be more to the story, either it was having the symptoms before doing oil/transmission fluids or you did something that damaged the rearend.

Otherwise your problem is in the transmission

This thread makes my head hurt.

I still don't understand what your definition of slipping is?

OP, How about defining what you mean by slipping.

I agree with the other people who have already said that this problem can't be fixed by people giving advice over the internet. You need a trained mechanic to look at both the engine and the transmission who can run the proper tests on your truck.

OP, a man just has to know his limitations. I've changed the oil in my vehicles for quite some time now. I remember the first time I changed my oil I did a little bit of a double take. It'll get better.
