That was something I missed doing after I traded my 2nd gen Sport for my BMW. Couldn't necessarily take that on a trail to find a pretty view :sadviolin:

Avis rents TRD Tacoma's in my zip code. This is the best way to test drive one before committing.

You need an over night test drive. Take it home. Park it in the garage. Wake up and drive it around and then you start to see how it works with your lifestyle.

Cool trucks that look and ride like trucks. I had my mind set on one and no regrets.

Nope - prolly won't. Doesn't make much financial sense. This truck is close to free to drive.

Doubtful, those trucks run like 20mph up I-70. You'd have to go from 4th to 2nd to get the rpm jump anyway.

I’ve owned 15 cars. 3 Tacomas. Every other car was in the shop for some kind of repair. Never my Tacoma (or other Toyotas). Buy it and never look back. The third gen is the best vehicle I’ve owned and I’ve had cars 2x the price.

50k miles on my truck, and I bought it brand new.

Diff howl is present on my vehicle. I seriously doubt it’s a result of a mechanical error. It’s just drive train noise that wasn’t accounted for in the vehicle’s sound deadening design. That’s my theory at least.

I haven’t had one issue in 50,000 miles.

I too was freaked-out by Tacoma World.

    here’s the thing.

there are people with a “Toyota Mindset” and people without it.

Those with that mindset think this way: Toyota’s (even Lexus vehicles) aren’t the most exciting, powerful or advanced vehicles, But they are the most reliable and dependable vehicles. The “Toyota mindset” customers care more about getting to 200K without issues, being able to work on their own vehicles without issue if necessary, and re-sale value. These customers are happy with their purchases.

the customers that want a new car every 3-5 years, or care more about excitement and power are the ones trading in their vehicles.
For some reason (maybe social media and overlanding trends). Toyota off-road vehicles have shot up popularity. These customers are buying Tacoma’s/4runners because it’s trendy, but they are ultimately not happy because a Toyota off-road vehicle is neither more powerful, more advanced or more fuel efficient than the competing vehicles.
