Okay so when I got my truck, my compass worked fine. It started randomly turning off and finally shut off. I did the COMPASS/TEMP GAUGE fix found on this forum and everything was great for about a month.

So I took the module down to snug up my solder joints and whatnot. I did not have my own soldering gun so I borrowed one that was a bit too big for the job. Fast forward... I made a mess of the double resistor soldering pad and ripped it off.

    It looks like this...

I went out and bought a pack of new 47ohmn resistors and a new small soldering gun and have been soldering and testing the unit and I can't get it to come on with the new resistors in place.

What can I do to get this thing fixed forever? Am I fucked? I don't know jack shit about electricity. Please help fellow Tacoma bretherens.

    This thread might interest you...

Or otherwise type in 'ripped pad off circuit board' - in google.

But, I think you're screwed. My husband builds circuit boards and without knowing the details of the board itself - how many layers, double sided, leads within layers, etc, etc.... It might be very very difficult to make a repair.

Take it to a local Electronics Manufacturer / Repair and ask them to look at it.

Yeah thank you, I actually came across that forum while doing a search about this. Wasn't sure if anyone has had any experience with this. I have tried running my own copper wire lines and such to get a loop to solder the resistors too. Things just not turning on. Any tips on how to ghetto rig this anyone? I don't care how ugly it looks, I just want it to work damnit!

Anyone else? Am I screwed? I was hoping to fix this for like $20 and not have to spend $120 buying a new thermometer. :/

I tried some experimenting like this to try and get something happening... trying to mimic the copper pads with copper wire and making my own circuit. No luck.
