So I am thinking/wanting to put an OME 3" lift kit on my Taco but my dad doesnt want me to do it ( I still live at home). He thinks my truck will look like a Bro's F150 that is lifted way to high. So can I get some good reasons to convince my dad to let me get a lift. Thanks :)

Did you show him pictures of people's trucks from this forum? And discuss the improved ride*? Who owns it, you or dad?

If it's your truck and you pay for it there isn't much he can do. If he owns it and you drive it you are probably sol.

I got it as a gift , but I paid for half of it. I have shown him pictures but he thinks it will wreck the car. He thinks if you change the shocks it will change everything about the car and it could ruin it

Sounds like Dad would be the one to buy the lift?

If the money is coming out of Dad's pocket - then guess what? Start mowing the lawn, pulling weeds, doing some laundry, scrubbing the floors and rubbing your dads feet. :D

many instances ppl say that installing newer shocks improves the ride. its not that expensive to get a decent 3 inch lift.

How about telling him you just want to improve the ride by upgrading the shocks to a much better riding 5100? (...set at 2.5 of course, and sacrifice the .5" in order to get it)

x3 make sure to wash clay bar and wax the truck. make sure he knows you are going to take care of it. then maybe he will be less weary of you screwing up the ride quality

I wash my truck weekly and wax it monthly and always keep it clean and he notices i park my truck far away from other cars to avoid door dents and what not

thats good. baby it. make sure he knows you wouldn't do anything like lifting it without hours of research and making sure it would do nothing but help it :)

This bring back memories of highschool. And makes me so happy to be grown up and moved out. I know that doesn't help, I'm just saying. :D

Honestly getting a lift is going to mess up the alignment. So if you lift it without UCAs then your Dad will notice the ride isnt as good as stock. If you do get UCAs that another $500+. Do you plan on doing all of the install your self? What if something does have a problem or break. Does your Dad know how to fix it or have money to help pay to get it fixed?
