Here's the short version: I've got 4 broken ribs. I couldn't even get the driveshaft disconnected without severe pain. So, I took my truck to a shop for work. They did a shit job.

    The story:

My throw out bearing was about to go.

    https://youtu.be/ke0Ut5IaUGE

So I jumped in on the Clutch Masters group buy. I picked up their hydraulic slave, the FX400 Stage II Kevlar clutch, and a URD heavy flywheel as upgrades. Normally, I would do this job myself. Physically, I couldn't. I also couldn't put it off any longer.

I called around and found a few shops that seemed to know what the hell they were taking about and one in particular was $150 less than the others. So I went there.

Today, when I picked up my truck I did a quick inspection to make sure all was good to go. It wasn't. I told the manager. When I tried to tell him the bleed line for the hydraulic slave needs to be secured better than this:

    3106FA8B-7951-4815-823D-877430355A6A.jpg

(among other things) the mechanic immediately came at me asking if "I even know what parts I have".

I pointed out the missing instruction plate cover

    BC61C872-58FD-4576-9905-61D9E55E7E65.jpg

    The unsecured exhaust bracket bolt

    303A2AFB-C391-43FD-8209-E100C1742DD1.jpg

    The improperly instated dust plug

    16DCB932-FA57-4ABC-B3DE-0D76D2759C64.jpg

And the completely missing passenger side exhaust bracket

    98974BD7-0A27-478F-9A8C-17891127406F.jpg

When they became overly defensive, I realized I'm not going to get my point across with them so I paid the $600 and left.

When I got home I painfully crawled back under the truck and found a number of things I was not ok with. Here's the text I sent the owner

    F89BE81B-24AF-4BB3-94F2-AFD957A1D75B.jpg

    E9C5837D-0FF2-4B69-84DE-7335C200239C.jpg

    7FD368B5-1958-457F-B9C3-6942CF41B644.jpg

When they don't respond, how do you think I should move forward?

I was thinking about sucking it up, going to the dealership, and paying through the nose to have them tear the drivetrain apart and put together a list of discrepancies, contacting the BBB and arranging a hearing at the small claims court. A doc I know said the lidocaine patches are considered a narcotic; should I call the police about that one?

    What would you do?

Getting documentation and fixing it at a different shop is a must.

Getting it reimbursed via small claims is a hassle but may pay off.

The BBB is a crock of shit organization that literally means nothing nor has any enforcement capability. Youd be better off thrashing them on yelp, google reviews, etc.

I've considered this. The problem is they have my signature. Can I actually do that?

I second this! Don’t let them get away with this bullshit! They need to be accountable for their work (or lack there of).

Lidocaine is a local anesthetic and I've never heard of it being controlled or considered a narcotic. But that wouldn't stop me from telling the shop owner you're contacting the police and DEA. See if that lights a fire under his ass.

If you have 4 broken ribs and are on pain meds you should have someone else assist.

I would not be above calling this shop pretending to be someone else, or having friends call, and scheduling really big jobs and never showing up. Fuck this guy. Jump through the legal hoops of small claims court or make his life suck in all ways you can without breaking any laws.

As silly as it sounds, I'm actually pretty livid about the lidocaine patches. They took a pain killer and I'm in constant pain.

On that note, highly recommend never breaking your ribs.

Lol, lidocaine is not a controlled substance at all. The patches might be prescription only and illegal to obtain without one, but it is not a controlled substance

It's still theft of a prescription medication. I figure police have bigger fish to fry, but still worth a call to them.

Then volunteer for drug testing to prove you're not on cocaine, as long as all his employees agree to do the same.
