Yeah gotta agree. When you buy something, especially new, a certain level of maintaining it is to be expected. But honestly I don’t think much of anything he said is considered whining or causing problems. If that other guys thought process is just get rid of it and get another truck, then he either has lots of money or simply doesn’t care for stuff you put hard earned money into.

It’s the principle of the matter, it’s not like this guy is talking about a truck with 200k miles.

If there was a way to vote you off TW I would vote for it. That oil leak should be covered by Toyota, period. Your personal feelings for the OP don’t matter, time for you to move on.

Each is entitled to their own opinion, I tagged the “acceptable” voters to hear their reasons.

I met with the general manager, the owner happened to be at the dealership so discussion began with both present.

They will be working up some construct of “what they can do” to replace the vehicle by mid next week.

If they hit my target criteria, I will swap trucks, and they will sell the current truck as is. If not, I will reject it and move onto my next steps.

So yep, if they level with me, somebody’s cousin is going to get this truck “as is”, which I was told when they sell this way, no records need to be disclosed to the buyer.

good for you......am i reading this correct......they are going to buy your truck or swap it out......if they saw it out, what will you get and will it be the same as what you have now? also, if they do that, make sure you take off any easily removal mods and take them with you......let us know what happens

They are going to present a (or a few) solutions Tues/Wed next week.

I talked to them about it needs to be a replacement at this point, I wouldn’t take the used 16’ automatic they have. If it has tech package upgrades I would pay the difference on msrp to Msrp from mine and I’m able pull off any add ons I did (step bars, intake, exhaust, tonneau, front rail with bike mounts, radio knobs, oil filter housing).

I bought mine at 5 miles and problems started within 15 days. Same configuration, made them aware it shouldn’t be a trade-in scenario, as it not that I don’t like the truck, it’s rife with assembly/mechanical issues and a bad vehicle.

They put forth vague lemon law language and “you know you’d be going against Toyota” and I had to respond with “you are referring to the lemon laws correct?” General manager presented it by way of “well you know Minnesota has some adverse weather conditions that beat vehicles up”. And “well once you start installing a TRD air intake and exhaust, things could happened because you know our technicians are certified and you’re not”. And also that “sometimes we hear things with vehicles that aren’t really there, and think it’s a problem”.

I had to let them know about me spending 2,500+ miles in loaner vehicles and my 49 days out of service, 10 issues Verified, 5 Fixed, 3 in progress, 1 back for second fix, 2 Verified outside of warranty. 14 trips to the dealer only for fixes.

    • Rear end disassembled twice.
    • Driveline disassembled twice.
    • Engine disassembled once.
    • 2 times worked on at a body shop.

I let them know I have records that my reports of issues fail within the 2 year/ 36,000 warranty time frame and I have documented my days out of service. The owner offered to have me give them a chance to formulate a solution, which I let them know I appreciated and would take under consideration once they worked up a write-up.

super......sounds like you have been fair, especially with paying for upgrades the new one would have that you's did not have.....you've done a good job not letting them "lawyer talk you"......believe me, they do not want to go to arbitration with all of your notes, dates, time and emails and phone calls......if i were them, i would buy back and allow you to get new truck.....i really love mine now (2016 TRD Sport V6 DCLB with tech and premium with nav).....it really ride good and gets good MPG.....let us know how it goes next week......lets see it they keep their work to get back with you.....good luck
