So you took off comprehensive a "few years" ago on a truck that is 3 years old? Which means maybe you only had comprehensive for a total of 1 year.

Does this mean you paid for the truck in cash , cause if you have a loan, zero chance your bank would allow basic coverage.

Your story is full of holes.

    TROLL ALERT

If it still runs and drives, weld up an exo cage and call it a day. Mad max that truck. As for loaning vehicles, I have always been told that your vehicles are like your toothbrush.

    Jeez "drove off a cliff"

It's a wonder you didn't also lose a friend that day.

I'd make them pay for it personally.

At least your a second gen, should be lots of wrecked toyota's out there to salvage. Good luck OP!

A friend of mine modified my truck by falling asleep and crashing it down a very steep hill into a tree. Since I wasn't carrying full coverage at the time my poor Taco is sitting around waiting for me to find him a new cab. Engine and Frame are fine. Body isn't.
Thanks for all the replies. As for my story being "full of holes" as one gentleman suggested, it's not. I paid cash for the vehicle, kept the full coverage on it for a year, took it off to save money, kick myself in the butt for doing that now. The engine is fine, the frame isn't tweaked. The bed could probably be unbent. But the cab is a goner. I was just hoping that someone may have info about a replacement for my cab. And like a toothbrush, I will never loan my vehicles out again.

I'm sorry that I have no pic's of my wrecked truck. I was devastated when I saw it and couldn't even look at it. It's now parked at a friends house about 50 miles away from where I live. The next time I have reason to go check on it, I'll take a photo.

You'll also want to start looking at Craigslist, as well as local public auto auctions for wrecked Tacomas you can buy cheap to salvage from. From experience though, you're better off buying another truck to replace the one your "friend" wrecked.

It’s been a while, is your friend still “trying” to help pay for some of the damage? Of did he just run off and is no longer a friend?

I agree with trying to look on Craigslist or call around to some salvage companies or yards. They made that cab for 11 years so there should be plenty around. Doesn’t matter if it’s from an older truck. As long as it’s in decent shape. Whatever you find you’ll probably need to repaint anyway. Hopefully you can find something and get your truck repaired. Gotta suck to spend that much on something to have it damaged and not be able to use it or sell for close to what you payed to recoup most of the money

You could ask your friend to send you some pics - might quiet down some of the doubters. Thanks for the updates and good luck w your truck.

When someone else damages your vehicle liability goes on their coverage not yours.

It is a collision not comprehensive issue.

I fail to see why your insurance policy matters at all.
