Ok this all started when I purchased a viper key-less entry system, I had just gotten my truck and it had no power locks and that was one of the few things I really wanted. No big deal, bought it from a local shop and had them install it. all is good.

A couple days later I was getting a little annoyed that the system had no feedback when locking or unlocking the truck, like i understood that they did not install a alarm because I bought a basic system, but not even the lights were flashing or anything.

So come yesterday I decided to install one of those little buzzer / sirens to give me a chirp feed back when I lock or unlock the truck.

Ok so I start to take everything apart to dig into the wiring, I have my owners manual and the installation manual, the diagram is pretty straight forward.

After I stated digging into the wiring I noticed that the wire for the flashing lights was already wired in, so I stated messing around with the truck to see what was wrong, and It never occurred to me to turn off my lights and try it. for whatever reason I have always keep my lights on and never turned them off, I figured as long as they go off when the truck shuts off I am fine, but as soon as I turned my lights off they would flash when I hit the lock / unlock / panic button on the remote.

Second issue was that the buzzer did not work, I wired it up they way the diagram said to, and it would only go off when the panic button was pressed, but when locking / unlocking it would not make a sound.

Ok and this is where I made the greatest dumb decision of the day. I figured well if the parking lights are wired in correctly and they are flashing then I will just tap into that wire so when the lights flash the horn honks, OK so maybe a hour later I got everything wired up and everything was working, lights would flash, horn would honk.....then I turned on my lights.....and realized if the lights are on....the horn is on.....:frusty::frusty::frusty:.

So now I am at the point where I hooked up everything they way it was, and am just making sure I remember to turn my lights off before I get out of the truck so I can still get that flashing lights feed back.

Now my question is is there any way at all to keep my lights on all the time and still get the flashing feedback from the truck when I lock / unlock, because even if the light switch is always on, when the truck is off the lights are off, so I just don't see why they could not still flash before I even turn the ignition.
(Also this is how my 01 4Runner works, I never turn off the lights, they go off when the truck turn off, but when I hit the remote I still get feedback from the lights / horn)

Also, is there any way I can still wire up this buzzer without wiring it to my horn :facepalm:

Thanks guys! and thanks for giving the time to read about my shitty day lol.

For flashing lights, it sounds like the light flash output is currently wired to the switch. Two ways to get what you want, but the path of least resistance is going to be to just go to the lights after the fuse box, instead of before it (switch).

As for buzzer, I'm not sure what you're asking. Can you describe the behavior you're after?

I think you are right, the flash lights output is wired to the switch, and for the buzzer, i just want it to go off with the lights.
