I need your opinion on a weird situation

I guess the thing that still makes me go “hm” is the thought of closing the fuel door with the gas cap hanging down. How could one not notice? However, I have done much, much dumber things in my life. Let me rephrase, I do dumber things than that on a monthly, if not weekly basis.

 

You answered your own question haha. For every one who “could never do such a dumb thing” there are likely dozens of other dumb things they’ve done that “I” could never do.
In my case I think I even left the gas door open, that was years ago. Distraction maybe, a pretty girl, the law closing in and I was in a hurry, don’t really remember it was so long ago.

 

There are the dumb things I would do but most other people wouldn’t, and the dumb things some people might do, that I’d testify I’d never do, but probably would given the right circumstances.

 

No, there was room to set the cap next to the filler hole and close the door no problem. I certainly did not let it hang out and scratch my truck up, it was not worth that level of commitment....

I am a bit puzzled as to why the lights did not go off, because they did before when the cap was on but not fully on and those lights were consistent even after I made sure to put the cap on. I even took it to the dealership because the light would not clear after a couple of dsya ... they hooked it up and did not find anything wrong. perhaps they cleared the fault with the techstream or something. It was really weird and I still am not sure what went wrong, but perhaps it was a loop or something.

I just did not want to give out bad info once I tested it again.
