Luckily our Tacos dont have direct injection, which was one of the selling points for me after owning a VW GTI with DI with misfires and poor running due to carbon buildup. Unfortunately no amount of WOT would get that gunk off. Had to tear the intakebmanifold off and use a dentist scraper and carb cleaner every 60,000 miles or so, and thats even with a catch can. Sucky job too, have to remove the injectors and replace seals every time.

used WOT all the time on my V6 because the truck couldn't get out of its own way 9 out of 10 times, esp on highway.

Just because technology has advanced does not mean that the internal combustion engine design has which has been around for 100 years plus. It is a good idea to give your engine a good blow out every once in a while to clear it up some for sure.

I had always heard that it is good to give it the ol skinny pedal now and again. Doesn't seem to hurt anything, but seriously I've never hit a rev limiter on any of my vehicles.

WOT is where this truck shines........especially with DT long tube headers and a TRD exhaust.

^^^What he said^^^ Direct Injection is great...for the first 60000 miles. We used to own an Audi. Replacing carboned-up injectors is hella-expensive.

Live a little man...put er to the woods! You won't be sorry.

My Audi is at 140,000 miles and no carbon issues, but she sees WOT and redline multiple times on every drive. Gotta keep 'em cleaned out.

At 110mph, the computer seems to kick in and cut fuel until your speed drops back down to ~103mph.

108mph seems like the happy sweet spot.

the first time i got on my Tacoma i was really surprised.
this truck will scream. it has more power than a lot of V8'S that i have owned.
+ the K&N air system gives her a unbelievable growl!!!

Good time to get rid of that Audi. I've heard many a horror story about Audi repair bills.

Fortunately I have the 3.2 liter V6. Very reliable.

Most of the horror stories that you hear come from the 2.0 liter turbocharged four banger, or the 2.7 liter turbocharged V6.

The holy grail of Audi repair bills, however, is when the timing chain tensioner/guides go on the 4.2 liter V8.

The parts alone are roughly $6,500 if you buy them yourself, but look at this thing.....

Would any sane person want to tackle this job?

You don't have to go fast to blow it out... Get on her getting on an onramp on the freeway. 1st to 2nd through second in the auto gets you to 65.

And you wanna clean injectors... A couple of bangs on the revlimiter is about the best possible thing you can do. Full pressure and full duty cycle to zero duty cycle back to full duty cycle blast injector deposites out real good.

Also direct injection and buildup... This is why Toyota uses both standard port injection and direct injection so the back of the intake valves get washed.

The carbon issue on Audi is what scared me away from an RS4.

Drove the slug truck today and was WOT a few times getting on the freeway and such.. its a normal daily affair.

Truck has 200k miles and does not seem to mind stretching the old legs out a bit, in fact it probably drives better than when it was newer.

it is a rumbly loud hot mess but its a great truck.

Come on down to the mud hole ya' all.
At red line first gear hi range, when you let off the throttle when stuck, the mud falls for 7 seconds. 305/70/17 MTRs. Boggers, much longer.
