So I am sitting there minding my own business today when I get a call from the hospital......its my ex-wife. :censored: She is all worked up and blah blah blah... I ask why she is calling ME of all people and she tells me that she just wrecked and totaled the 2009 DC PreRunner we bought when we were married. Once I found out she was not on death's doorstep; I damn near kicked off my boots in a fit of joy. Why you ask?! Because I was the primary signer on the loan and she has missed several payments....jacking up my credit...and it was the last thing from my marriage that was connected with her. Totaled truck=Payed off truck=No longer my problem=Smile. I did however learn from her that in the event of being a dumb ass, and you decide to have a head on collision with another 3,000lb moving object, the Tacoma's are pretty safe and you will walk away just fine. All in all....I'd say it was a pretty good day today.

*And yes, I understand this is in the 2nd Gen forum....its here because today we lay to rest a 2nd Gen Taco....and because EVERYTHING goes in the 2nd Gen Forum. The only down side to all of this is that I will no longer have my 69th post and this will push me to 70.....bummer.*

We divorced shortly after the 09's came out and had purchased the truck. Should have never signed the damn thing anyway, but hats off the little fella' for taking one for the team and being totaled so I can breath a little easier.

I suspect she'll be hitting you up for another vehicle? And yeah is it safe to assume the insurance was up to date?

I can understand your joy because basically the same thing happened to me. My ex-wife was driving around a car that we'd bought together. I was making the payments. We divorced cleanly and she asked for nothing from me except for the car payments. I agreed because I was thrilled to keep the furniture and have her credit card debt off my back.

Not long after we split someone rear-ended her and totaled it. I was scott free.

In all seriousness, I am glad she is ok. The insurance was up to date. I know that because we are both still in the Army and USAA called to see what I knew about it since I was apparently still on her emergency contacts. She also called earlier to thank me for getting the GAP insurance. So I am off the hook. We originally got a pre runner for insurance, ease, and 2 new kids so my adventures had come to a halt. I now have the 4X4 6 Spd and got my man card back. (Her kids are ok as well; they were not in the truck.) It did suck for my current girlfriend to have to listen to me talk to the hospital and make sure then knew what my ex wife was allergic to, her insurance, etc though.....awkward.
