BS in BS out. So many people complaining about stupid BS and having Toyota make note of it because they read about it on the internet even though they really are not having the issues. It's common advice that is given here. Internet phenomenon at its best. Give the 3rd Gen a good 10yrs and we will see, but until then, shit or get off the pot.

Not really true. Many people flip a vehicle a year after having it. These things are really minor. I have fixed cars for a long time and laugh at some of the complaints I see here with 100's of panic posts.

The problem with anecdotes is they don't really tell you shit. You should go to an auction sometime and let me know what your 2011 Silverado would be worth today ;)

For funsies see what a 2011 Tundra would be worth today.... Which do you think will be worth more and why do you think that is??

I already know the answer so FYI this is a rhetorical question.

Interesting that quite a few of the 20 vehicles on this list mention transmission issues, particularly shifting complaints (odd, jerky, delayed...etc.) Similar complaints as 3rd gen Tacos. That seems to be the biggest complain that I am reading on this site as well (most other issues I am seeing drag on ad infinitum on this site are for the most part actual, fixable issues such as the diff seeping.)
Isn't the perceived issue with the current Taco (and with similar complaints on this top 20 bad list) really just manufacturers are stressed to find any way to accommodate fuel standards through tranny programming, atkinson engines, etc. Our truck (and jeeps) of old were not under those same stresses. It does seem that Toyota (and likely others) are trying to address some of those complaints via TSB updates. GMC/Chevy went so far as to put a crappy chin on their mid-sized trucks to help MPG (at least that is the only thing I can think of to justify it.)
My daughter's new Focus also has some odd shift points imo, also likely attributable to fuel standards. My wife's 2 year old Civic, same thing I just think this is the world we now live in. Until technology and engineering catches up with both MPG requirements AND performance wants of truck owners...I think we are stuck with accepting it or buying a 3rd party reprogram or not accepting it and buying a full size with biggest engine that isn't trying to be what it ain't. Personally, in my extended test drives of the Taco, the F150 ecoboost and the Colorado....I didn't have any significant complaints about any of them in regards side street or hwy shifting. Yes, there were a few points (on all 3 vehicles) where I would have shifted less often or not at all...but that is programming and personal preference for ya. When I do order my Taco, it will likely be a manual regardless as that is what I prefer when available.

But it's not a big picture. If this is all we worry about its not even worth the calorie expended.
Fix the issue and it's good to go. No big deal.

It is a big picture when you look at small sample size of the forum and all other external elements (major review sources and media)

When you replace a cps and fix a seal and plug a hole you are at 100%. Do you sell a vehicle because of that trivial stuff ?
Not major for me at all.
Oh and grease zerks lol and add atf maybe.
    Small stuff.
There are people in here disecting their trucks for mods.

The media likes the ridge. Just great.

It is what it is. Turd Gen drivers are spending an inordinate amount of time and taking frequent trips to dealers to get shit fixed. This is a comparison made against other major manufacturers for the segment AND by TOYOTA's own past standards! These national review sources-- JD Power, Consumer Reports, Car & Driver are hitting on this! If it were just one outlet shaming the Tacoma and the others reporting good numbers, I'd be more dismissive. Once again this isn't just about what people report on the forum. You have to look at the big picture here and there is clearly a pattern in the results being reported. I'd love to see Toyota getting the top notch initial quality awards for the new Tacoma, but it ain't happening that way and guess what? The media picks up on that shit. Again this isn't one magazine or one website. It isn't just a collection of "shebudgets" and "jalopnik" clickbait sites. These are widely renowned sources and media outlets providing the analysis and conclusions. Will we know more in 10 or 20 years? Absolutely. Does that mean the current information is skewed or wrong? No.

Your truck might be perfect. Others are not.

So if the resale value on Toyota is good but the truck sucks A$$ and the Nissan Frontier is better but it’s cheaper doesn’t it make sense to even trade it, then come here and poke the bear for FuN?

Unless of course you don’t really believe the B/S the “fake” media preaches?

I'd rather have these small issues than rust on a 2nd gen frame. Problems have always existed in every manufacturer. These are easily repairable.

Debatable. There is a lot of blind loyalty to Toyota based on "PAST" perceptions which could change as we see the Initial Quality has already changed from the past.

Ignore you? NEVER!! Why, because A-holes always stand out in a crowd (or on a forum).:boink:

Great!! The Ranger forum will love your negative insights into their new vehicle :facepalm:Sorry you have to drive your POS Turd Gen another couple of years.:sadviolin:

DITTO! Addendum: I guess they send the better vehicles to us in the south (or at least to LA "lower Alabama). Every time I see a 16' or 17' in a situation I can speak to the driver I ask them about the issues they have had...normal response...few minor to none.
