What would smitty do if his truck got stuck in 3rd gear? Would he call it bad luck too?

FWIW, I test drove a 2017 TRD OR on Saturday and Colorado LT on Sunday. The dealers are almost next to each other and we did almost the exact same loop each test drive. I thought both drove very well (everything does over my lifted 1996 Tacoma though, ha). On the highway I did notice the Tacoma shifting between 5th and 6th. Just a few times. I'm not sure what gear I was in with the Colorado, but it stayed in it the entire time I was on the highway. Note: both were only short 25 min test drives so eh.

I need something with space age technology and Nissan is too dated plus I also need something that could traverse in moon like terrain, but I'm afraid the Nissan falls just short.

But I did look at it and have been looking for/with others looking for a more affordable and reliable vehicle I would recommend it, I had it 2 on my list but being number one is better.

First page of the "Issues, Troubleshooting, and Recall/Service Bulletins" thread. Wonder what that thread would look like here if there was one...

Correct, now you got it, in normal driving it may only shift 3 times before its in overdrive.

Yes, that plus having enough power to go with it, if the engine is low on power then it would end up having to downshift instead of being able to hold the current gear when under load.

That's one of the biggest reasons I didn't dump my tacoma when I had a bunch of problems out of the gate. The gm twins just feel cheap inside. Toyota is lucky they don't have competition in that regard.

If you pay that you're an idiot. Truecar shows them selling for 3 to 4k under MSRP. You can do better than that if you have half a brain cell when It comes to negotiating car deals. Domestics are marked up high to begin with. You could get a loaded duramax canyon out the door for 40k. That's less than what some people are paying for TRD ORs

If it was reliable and dependable for 10-15 yrs like the taco or Frontier I'd look it over, but that's not happening.

I like chevy's.....from the 60's or early 70's ....they were actually good, reliable trucks then.

Quality and reliability scores are up on GM. Actually better than the new Tacoma right now.
