I didn't lose anything going from the '16 to the '18. Lost a little going from the '18 to the '19 (traded the '18 Sport in for a '19 4Runner Nightshade, the wife "convinced" me that we really didn't use the truck bed and should upgrade to the Runner, but quickly regretted it and missed having a truck). It is not typical of me, but like I said you only live once (I don't believe in being unhappy with something that I can fix) and most people spend money on toys or a hobby.

Although my son's train obsession has spawned a new hobby that he and I can both enjoy together :)

How did you not lose anything on a 2 year old truck?

Yep. I cringe just thinking about it. Rolling negative equity caught up with me after a while, so I downgraded to an SR to balance things out.

Why doesn’t the Limited get any love? Leather, heated seats, sunroof, JBL. What’s not to love?

Long story short I had a ton of equity in the '16 due to the a dealer screw up on a new Subaru I purchased. After a month of hand washing the vehicle I noticed that the black rear bumper was fading a bit too quickly in one spot. Upon further examination it looked like someone backed into something and spray painted the bumper with black spray paint getting over spray on the painted parts of the bumper. The GM found that a teenage boy who cleans up the vehicles for delivery caused the damage and received permission from the assistant GM without my knowledge to spray paint the bumper. Needless to say he was pretty pissed off and eager to make the situation right. As a result the dealer bought the Subaru back, upgraded me to the new years model that had been released in the months since I purchased mine, and upgraded me a trim. The only money I was out was the two months payment I had already made. I was able to use this equity to stay ahead/even on the next few purchases. Without this situation, i'd probably still be driving around a Subaru.

Ahhh gotcha, that makes sense, I was feeling shitty about what I thought were my decent trade/buying haggling skills, lol.

Because Literally none of those things have historically been part of what the Toyota pickup is known for.

    That’s hyundai Elantra fodder.

True, but I love all of them in my turd. Remember the early TRD seats in the 2nd gens? Damn things would stain with water.

Lol, it was a strange situation. I was beyond pissed. When you buy a NEW vehicle you expect it to be nearly blemish free. If they would have told me they backed into something, I would have chose another new vehicle off the lot. I was especially pissed when Subaru of American told me it was my responsibility to thoroughly inspect the vehicle before purchasing even though the dealer did all this after I agreed to purchase the vehicle and was signing the papers. In the end the dealer made it right and everything worked out in the end!

I have one more thing to say. If you complain that the new trd doesn’t have “apple whatever it is play” then a Tacoma probably isn’t for you

For me, it’s the ugly wheels, even more fake chrome trim, and no locker. Not my cup of tea
