I Quit Smoking

I decided this Thanksgiving to quit smoking (quit the night before). I had been thinking about it for a while and just decided to do it.

This book is a good help for those wanting to quit.

So far, I haven't had much in the way of cravings. I was smoking about 1 pack a day. For the last week, I'd dropped to about 12 cigarettes a day.

My wife never really nagged me about it (she's fantastic!), but I knew she didn't like it.

The book is actually pretty good if you can get them to read it. It gets about 4.5 stars on Amazon with over 600 reviews. It's a simple read. You might just read it yourself.

At one point the author smoked up to 100 cigarettes per day. What I like about it is it doesn't really use scare tactics, although he does talk about some of the health hazards. He even recommends to the reader to keep on smoking while reading the book. What kind of sealed it for me was talking about the financial aspect of it.

At $5 per pack, that amounts to about $1800 per year. That's a lot of mods. If two of them are smoking the same amount, that would put them at $3600 per year. You might suggest that they can make an extra house payment with that money every year and cut their mortgage payoff time. I think on a 30 year mortgage, one extra payment per year cuts the payoff time to about 23 years.

Nicotine addiction is actually very mild and not that tough to kick. It's all the psycological baggage that goes along with it that makes it hard. If you can change the way they think, they can kick it. He recommends staying away from things like nicorette because it doesn't really break the nicotine addiction.

Awesome. I smoked when I was in the service off & on.
Occasionally will get a craving but it passes.
The extra money will add up as you have already said for more mods

 

Congrats!! Dont smoke but I figure at some point in my life I need to stop chewing.
