not sure if i would do this because i would think the extra heat would be bad on the headlight assemblies, but it is interesting and he said so far so good...

he has the 2012 tacoma, he took out the yellow bulbs in the front yellow light spot in the headlight assembly and replaced them with HID lights that are connected to a switch. Hard to describe so take a look at the pics. the conditions were not the best for pictures it was foggy and humid as hell last night, but i did the best i could. it turns out we have a friend in common so in a few months i may see if i can get hold of him to see if there is any melting on the headlight assembly.

anyone else ever play around with that idea?

with the lens being fluted; I couldn't imagine that having good output, its made for a diffused not as bright light.. If it was clear I could see it working better.

Okay so let me see if I got this straight.... This guy put HID's in his DTRL slot in his headlamp assembly? If I'm reading that right, that might be one of the dumber things I've seen. Why???

On top of that something tells me the HID's are not meant to be used as turn signals. I don't get it?

Also I wonder if it will pass inspection in his state? Might be money spent for nothing.

maybe he is using the DTRL spot as a secondary headlight and the parking light is now used as the turn signal?

ya, he was not using the oem harness to power it, he had seperate switch to turn them on. they did give off a good bit of light, i'll say that. but probably end up damaging the headlight assembly if he runs them too much.

So the corner lamps were his blinkers and the OEM blinker/DRLs were spot lights?

    Not enough...
Speaking of lights. I am confused with all the HID/Projector/Whatever options available for Tacoma. Anyone got a link to a write up that would explain things to me like to a 5 year old?

    Sorry for thread jack.
