I had an ex that drove 10 miles or so on the freeway with a kitten clinging to the underside of her old Volvo sedan several years ago, thought she heard meowing while driving and looked under the car when she stopped - sure enough there it was. She kept it and still has it to this day I believe.

In the winter I will knock on my hood just in case a cat or some other small animal is in there for the shelter/warmth. Don't want to deal with that mess if I don't

    Yikes...

I can't help but feel like this unlucky kid got shoved in there for the sake of this picture, that or someone actually found a kid like this and figured they'd take a pic before helping the kid out? Either way I'm going to have to check my fenders for small children now

I scalped a rat with my serpentine belt last winter that decided my engine was a good place to cuddle up. I have started doing the same since.

    Stock for now.. maybe
I know it was apparently taken and happened at a construction site. Where I work we are require to do a full 360° walk-around to inspect also under engine bay for leaks. Also can't back up without a spotter. Maybe thats how the kid was found but he/she doesn't look to happy so kid was probably pretty loud too. You're right though, 'oh a kid is stuck this will be a great photo' lol

Yeah that was my first thought, probably because I have a kid now that's about to become a toddler so my first guess is whoever took that photo probably isn't a parent lol. But, it is an effective warning though so there is something to be said about that.

Although if the kid was dangerously stuck I could understand them having to wait for emergency personnel to arrive, that could have been the case. If he got his hand caught in the coilover or something

Don't have a very good picture of it, but you can see the fur and some skin on the belt. There was more on a different part of the belt but I didn't get a picture of that.

If you can keep from running over them...they make good winter leg warmers.

That's how we got our last cat. Saw some gray fur fly out from under the car in front of us. We were both like... Was that a cat?? We pulled over and there it was on the side of the freeway covered in grease. Probably only a week or so old. His name is George, and he still likes to be under things.

I have 2 horror stories about things being under my vehicles.

Recently I decapitated a squirrel who decided to climb up under the hood of my Tacoma and I started the engine. Pulled out of the driveway and saw something in the driveway minus a head. Found that still under the hood.

About 25 years ago I had a 72 Impala that sat up high with big wheels and nice rims. I went out got in it and backed out of the driveway into the street. I keep hearing a noise under the car and stopped. Just as I did my neighbors 3 year old son popped up from under my car and ran off screaming. Other than being stuck on a hot muffler he was OK thank goodness. It turned out that he was playing mechanic and had a skateboard he was laying on under my car. He rolled out into the street on the board while my car was moving.
He might of been under there a couple blocks if I didn't stop rolling along on that skate board. Kid had a death wish. He drowned a few months later when he fell throw the ice in a pond behind their house. His loser parents never watched him close. I sat there shaking after I realized what could have happened.

Some people shouldn't be parents. That's tragic.
