We would LIVE for the days when the gym teacher scheduled indoor hockey. No other time can you get in a fight without detention AND act an ass to females without reprocussions!

I often wondered why they stopped letting us play that as we got into junior high - maybe it's because body checking the opposite sex would be a little different?:censored::devil:

I remember back when there were actually sitcoms on TV. That and growing up in the South we used to have a whole ton of "Southern Shows" the Andy Griffith Show came on TWICE a day ( I still love watching those shows), The Beverly Hillbillies came on every day as well, right along with Green Acres, and Gomer Pyle USMC. On Weekends they played a ton of weird local gospel shows hosted by scary old people. Last but not least, they playes Hee-Haw on Saturday nights.

Oh ya- there was also a guy named Cas Walker who owned a bunch of grocery stores. He was on TV a lot. He swore he would: " Whup the hell outta' Shoplifters. Quite a character.

Yeah! To be a kid again...
I remember borrowing the neighbors BMX bike and we'd go to the sand pit and ride around all day on the jumps & stuff. Riding to the convenience store for a sub, soda, and candy bar.

In the summer there were buses that would go all over to pick the kids up and take them to the local pool. That was the schnizzle!

I hated being inside as a kid! The more I stayed inside, the more excuses my parents got to yell at me. I got as far outside of the house as I could.

And my poor mom yelling for me outside when dinner was ready. That was embarrassing.....

Dad still goes around the house saying, "I'm Earl Sheib, I'll paint any car, any color for twenty-nine ninety-five!"

I don't think BK ever did lights - LA Gear was the first. I remember they even had a removable light. I was never a BK kid anyway, by the time LA Gear faded (which was quickly during/after I bought my first pair), I was trying to get the parents to buy Nike Air.

By the way, take a look at LA Gear's website - apparently someone doesn't want the 80s-early 90s to end, and they are even trying to re-release the shoes.

Any of you "old people" remember your parents buying a Black/White TV 3 weeks after gettin' hydro to the farm house, then the Colour TV's came out so my dad bought this piece of plastic to stick onto the B/W TV screen to "colorize" it.... It was a piece of saran wrap like material that was Blue across the top Reddish in the middle and Green near the bottom of the screen.

It made the cartoons look pretty cool, but the Hawkeye and "Chingascook" did not look good...!! HEHE

Getting an FM radio on a car was a premium add on
8 tracks could be found under the car seat
dashboards were flat so you could stow your McNuggets and dipping sauce up there before setting out on a long trip

... and maybe this is just a few of you... or just me... but as a kid, your mom would insist on dragging you along to go visit the old lady down the street. You would spend hours sitting still on a hard couch looking around at a bunch of figurines and other such crap while the conversation ate through precious hours of bike riding and playing ninjas/cowboys/etc in the yard, and anything you got close to mom would immediately pounce on you with a "don't touch!" Once mom and the old lady finally wrapped up their discussion on the weekly retelling of the entire history of the world, you would be in a sort of stupor because you couldn't believe that you were finally headed to freedom. On occasion, as you got near the door, the old lady would pass out cookies. Normally, cookies would be a small recompense for life drained away, but these hardened cookies always came with some added ingredient that the old lady thought made her crafty, yet you hated - it was either nuts, or raisins, or something like that. On top of that, the old lady would never get the recipe quite right, and there would be a chalkiness, or sourness, or some other taste due to a miscalculation in measurements.
