    Hi.
2008 Tacoma TRD Sport 2wd DBL Cab Auto 1st owner 142,000 mi

I have HOURS looking into someone, anyone who had this fixed via TSB hammer etc.

I have Bilsteins all around...(fronts up 1st setting)
Rear Leaf TSB and now recall 4 leaf kits

So maybe 1/2" or so over stock height.
    Stock size tires.

The vibration has gotten worse at 28 mph.(been a vibe since bought new) Last 3-4k miles I get when under light load at 38mph or so a vibration similar to the feel of safety grooves on the side of an Interstate highway. (perfect description)

Left dealer when they could not duplicate yesterday. Turned around and asked for tech to come with me for ride. His eyes bugged out when I got the vibration at 28 then at 38mph.

He initially thought it was tranny but its been ruled out.

I have a case opened with Corporate and will get $some help$ from them.

The Rear engine mount and Carrier bolt are not loose per visual inspection by tech. (head tech fwiw)

Is it possible that the rubber in Rear engine mount or CB (both?) has gotten brittle and causing this?

Could the Old Man Emu Drop kit be answer?

Could a 5 gal can of gas and a match be the fix?

I dont post here much as I learn way more than I could contribute.
If anyone can help here I'd once again appreciate it!

    Thanks- Dawg

possible humming?? maybe wheel bearing or weak needle bearing. get the clamshell from east coast gear supply and replace the old needle that should help. I have the same issue on my truck got the OME lift and had it on for 6000 miles and already making vibes, and its louder since its cold weather. I haven't installed it yet but from other peoples experience they said the sound and vibe went away

if you goto east coast gear supply site they have a clamshell its a steel round tube thing with Teflon on the outer side and its suppose to handle your side load on your truck with lift on it. I went to the stealer ship they couldn't replicate either. also check your cv axle by pushing up and if it moves up then possible you need that clamshell

I haven't messed with it since I got it, like grease it up. I did the lift and since then had the vibes and diff growl so everything I read on TW leads to the bushing and its only on the driver side

I have no problem throwing cash at this truck but throwing PARTS at it isn't what I want to do.

    Rear differential is a maybe!!

Tacoshin: No worries, I love the help and thought process

If you have zerks be sure and give them a shot of grease and see if that helps it. Good luck and I hope it's nothing major.

    Thanks

    Zerks is on list

Stumbled on a couple of "rumble strip" sound posts for Tacoma's and Tundra's

Rear wheel bearings(not it) and different differential issues appear so far...

I have time to read so....

    Thanks

There are a million different scenarios that cause and fix vibes. What fixed mine, after I lifted it, was a street tacos carrier bearing drop and 3 degree axle shims under my leafs.

    ok....

fix or trade in? Own it outright... trades look like $12,500

I'd prefer a 4x4 at this juncture in life. F150 XLT Crew with 5.0?

    Input or opinions please?

how about trading It in for a 4x4 Tacoma unless you don't want another taco, f150 is big ass truck, anyhow bruddah I would say keep it but if you are gonna change trucks that's your call bro. but I hope whatever decision you make is the right one for you. ( im not writing this in a bad way) im just saying its really up to you, cause im in the same boat as well thinking of selling my truck and get a SUV. so yeah im just in the thinking mode.

drop $2500 in.... 2008 truck with no payments

    vs.

sell and drop $12,000-15,000 down on new truck with warranty, 4x4 and payments.

New Tacoma TRD Sport 4x4 is $35-37k?

    SUV? have kids?

My use is now in Connecticut so snow and 1,200 mile trailer trips.
