I seem to be undecided and it is driving me nuts

I have been reviewing the 2016 Tacoma for about three months now and I was set on buying the TRD Sport Double Cab LB 4x4 fully loaded or the Limited 4x4 Double Cab. However, in reviewing several of many pictures and videos of all of the Tacoma configurations I dont really like the look of the Sport LB. It just does not look right with a long bed and those 17 inch cheesy tires. The problem I have with the Limited is the lack of color selection of interior leather and those side view chrome mirrors. I did see a picture of a Limited when they introduced it to the public which did not have the chrome side view mirrors they were black.

Fast forward, I have seen some good shots of the Tacoma TRD OR long bed and I am falling in love with it. Problem is I do not do much off roading. I may drive through the snow or on a gravel road from time to time but that is about it. My current truck is a 2006 Sport 4x4 and I may have had it in four wheel drive 10 times since I have owned it. Also, I do some home improvement work and the long bed would help a lot. However, a short bed would also do the trick I would just have to use a lot of tie downs and make additional trips to the home improvement store

At this point, I think my strategy will be to test drive all of them for ride performance and comfort. If I do decide to get the Sport it will be the short bed. If I go with the OR it will be the long bed. I will keep you posted as to which one I decide to get.

Here is part of what I am talking about. The white TRD Sport LB looks cheesy. It is missing something. The red TRD OR LB looks like a real truck. Is it just me or I am I missing something here

Actually, the 17" tires is what made me decide on the Sport vs. the Lt. Loved the simplistic design.

Either get the OffRoad or the Limited.

The sport is cheesy to me.
"Yay a fake hood scoop!" Of course you could make it functional... So you could cool off the plastics on top of the engine? Sport = lame imo.

You don't have to be a rock crawler to have a TRD OR.

And lastly, get a long bed. They're really beneficial if you use the truck like a truck. Who wants to buy a lot of tie downs and make extra trips? Nobody.

Edit: My vote is for the OffRoad. Simply because its cheaper (I think) and it has the locker. Who knows, mabye some extra capability will make you feel like you can go out and explore some scenic places.

I mostly share your opinions here. Curious about the longbed affecting wheel base and clearance when offroad....much difference do you think? How about a bed extender on the short bed? I'm undecided on that too (if I were to purchase that is)

I wonder about the long bed, more wheelbase thing too. I'm sure it's not too much of a difference.

Anyways, it shouldn't really matter for OP. He barely uses 4x4 for snow and gravel roads. My guess is that he isn't really going crazy OffRoad moab style, so he won't really have to worry about clearance in the first place.

I too have been set on a sport for some time now. But seeing these OR finally hitting the streets it is making me question my decision. The thing is that the sport and the OR can be equipped the same if you are purchasing a premium and technology package (which I will) so it really comes down to looks.

I have had my heart set on a Super White, but CaptAmerica just posted the MGM OR and OMG it is beautiful. I wonder what the Super White will look like with the composite fender flares.

That's an Offroad.. And actually, I think the offroad, when equally packaged, is a bit more expensive.. But I want to say it's not much at all..

i dont really do any offroading, and i have the offroad. I would have taken a sport, but the OR popped up first in the exact configuration i was looking for. The OR package is not a waste to me though. I have a very capable truck in the blizzards we get here, and its nice knowing i will make it home.

The Offroad model looks like the best option to me. What's a few thousand more when you're already dropping over 33k-35k? Also I personally don't understand the hood scoop on the sport model...doesn't make any sense to me. It sticks up high too, when I sat in the sport model today...seems like it blocks the field of view a bit. Totally unnecessary in my mind. Each to their own though.

I'm getting the long bed. I'd prefer to have it on the limited but that isn't an option so I think I'm going sport and optioning it up to limited (moon roof, jbl tech) and getting the dealership to take it to the place they work with for leather seats. I prefer the grill of the limited over the sport too. I'll end up getting an aftermarket grill though.

I just caught a post in the ordered/delivery date thread that the leather is available in grey, they're calling it "oyster."

If I never used 4 wd but 10 times I would think about getting the SR5 or sport model. They are cheaper then the OR which has features you will never use.

Like others have said you don't have to offroad to get the TRD OR. I originally wanted a Limited but I'm becoming more and more set on a MGMDCLB TRD OR MT.
