I spent about half the day with a Toyota Engineer who designed 2nd gen! How was your day? :)

It just financially does not make sense that they would be different.

That being said, I don't doubt this was told to the OP. But I just don't see the logic. They have the same output, so it's not like comparing a base corvette engine with a handmade Z06 engine or something.

When did you do this? I'm trying to remember the last trucks that Toyota built in Japan.
While it's a Toyota truck, there's not much in common with a Tacoma...at least according to those that have an unnatural crush on them..lol.

I've always shelled out the extra cash for Amsoil. It's in both diffs, tcase, and engine oil. This was reassuring to read.. Thanks for the post!

some time in the very early 90s. Drove Hondas and Acuras off the ship and then drove V6 Accords that were right hand drive back on as well.

What I remember about the Toyotas, besides the right hand drive, was the E brake was completely different. Toyota had their own ships and mostly used Portland OR and LA to offload.

You should just do an engine swap with a TRD & get a Hood scoop so you will have as much HP as us. Then you wont have to sell it.

I have read through this several times and cannot figure out what point that engineer was trying to make, the target of his conversation obviously is current GM, Ford, and Chrysler V8's. Off the top of my head I think the current 5.0 makes roughly 200HP more than our 4.0 with only 1 Liter more displacement and similar MPG, so how can that engineer make that claim? If memory serves me on the LS Engines, they vary from 4.8 to about 6.2 Liters and gobs of HP and Torque with decent MPG's, and Chrysler Hemi's also do quite well.

    Ok, a couple of things.

I have not read through all of the posts, i been down with the FLU, but am about to start going through them one by one.

1st, i was very excited when i posted. I guess i stated somethings wrong.

He said they did design the twin turbo for our engines and did actually produce some prototypes in vehicles and they are still around. He didnt say specifically prototypes of tacomas. But, it was not put into production for Tacomas because of the price issue.

Im going to go through the posts and respond the best i can. And make a list of specific questions you guys asked about design that would help our understanding of how these trucks work to ask him. (Real questions, not b.s. questions for proof of who he is, or challenge him!)

This guy is legit, maybe i phrased some things wrong, but, he is legit.
