I've been pouring over this section for 3 days now looking over the stickies, reading posts, rereading stickies, reading the links, trying the calculator and so on but I appear to be completely dense when it comes to wheel and tire fitting.

I hate to have to ask because I know how hated the question "will this fit" is so instead how about, "What works?"

I have a manual '12 V6 4X4 access cab Taco that will be getting a 3" lift soon. I intend to put BFG AT/TA KO 285/75R16s on it but I would like a set of simple, plain black steel rims. Every time i think I've found a good set, the offset is off, or the backspacing is off. So I ask the experienced folks to forgive me on this one and if you happen to have a setup that includes cheap steel 16" wheels and 285/75s, please just let me know here or shoot me a PM.

This is the only thing I've found that "might" work but honestly my brain is fried now from trying to understand it all so I could be missing something completely obvious.

Those Pro Comp wheels will rub the caliper without wheel spacers.

4.5" backspacing seems to be the sweet spot for 285's. Try these, 16x8 "Type A" (4.5" backspacing):
