2016 OR . I have had several TSB's done since new , 2 for reprograming the ECU for shifting , and 1 for the rear end howl , and 1 for the hood glue problem and 1 for the rear end seeping . It has been 15 months since my last TSB problem on my truck and I see nothing else wrong .
I knew I may have problems by buying a new release vehicle , and it was a pain , but now after 39 months , the problems have been minor . All is well and I have total faith in the truck , and plan on it lasting for years to come . There are many that bash the 3rd gen for whatever reasons .
Anyone else have confidence in a third gen Tacoma ? Or , are you ready to dump it ?

I'm on the fence. I'm still in the primer stages of the relationship, but I could one day leave her at Chilis with the bill and off with a different model

If ever I am so far down on the truck that it looks like the worst car purchase I ever had, I remind myself to log off the internet and go drive it for a while.

Not counting the string of beaters that I had in my teens and early 20s, I've bought five cars, all of them new. None of them were perfect, but I still enjoyed the hell out of them. Three out of the five I kept until I put at least 150 thousand miles on them.

The Tacoma isn't perfect either. I don't expect it to be. It is still a great machine though, and it meets my expectations for what I need. This is one of the that vehicles that I plan on keeping long term.

After 7 1/2 months, I still like mine. No unforeseen maintenance, yet.

45k miles on my truck and it has been awesome. The single best thing I did so far has been OVTUNE hands down. I’ve off-roaded in every typical terrain and climate and it keeps going. 2 weeks from Wednesday and the gears will be in...then I’m done. Really like my truck and how I’ve planned all my mods. Many mementoes made and many more to come.

Always liked mine. No TSB's done, no leaks, no problems other than the obnoxious engine noise. The noise magically went away after the 40,000 mile oil change. Smooth and quiet now, hope its not the calm before the storm.

I'm two years and 50k miles in. Not a single issue; no recalls, no warranty fixes, no TSBs. Mine has the normal quirks but nothing unexpected. All it's had is routine maintenance and mild mods. I guess I got a good one and I expect to keep it a long time.

My 2017 started as a lease because I wasn't 100% sure I'd love it long term, ended up buying it out because after 3 years and 48k miles I trust and love this Tacoma as much as my 3 previous ones :)

I've also abused mine just as hard as my 1st and 2nd gens, even harder really. Taken it through multiple 30" water crossings, buried in mud past the frame, its blasted up 200yrd sand dunes banging off redline the entire time, I overloaded it with 2,200lbs of people and gear then offroaded in Mexico, towed a 7,000lb boat, more donuts and power slides than I can count, been in everything from 15 below zero in mammoth to hauling ass in 120 degree desert weather.... all that and it hasn't even hesitated on me once.

Even my 2nd gen left me stranded one time but it was a freak accident so I forgave her :)

This is now my "forever truck", even if I end up getting a more comfy full size for my business I think I'll always have a Tacoma.

Don't know, had service done at the dealer. No verbal or written info but as I was leaving noticed how well it was running and how quiet it was. Its been that way for the last 3,000 miles. Who knows, maybe it was the Only time they actually changed oil.

I wouldn't hesitate to drive it around the world. Love it better than the 1st gen. Better than the 4Runner. Manual transmission is great. Zero issues.

You’re going to really piss off the other forum owners. Reality circuits blowing.

I’d still have my 1st Gen if it was bigger and didn’t continually rust. I’d have a 2nd Gen if it didn’t look like a 2nd Gen.
