I’m looking into new tires and wheels for my 1st gen. It’s a trd prerunner. If I’m wanting to get the tires to sit even with the out side of the fender flares do I need a shorter backpacking (thus the wheels outer edge would sit out wider) or do I go with the same backspacing but get a wider wheel/tire? If I’m understanding this right, I can do either depending on if I want to run wider tires or not. Is this correct? I have read the pinned thread and some others threads as well so hopefully I’m getting it.

On a side note, is there any advantage to running a 16 over a 17 inch wheel? Right now I have stock 16 inch wheels. I love the look of the TRD wheels but I don’t think they would sit out more even with the finders like I want. Is that correct? I would need a spacer to accomplish that right?

Let me know if I’m off or if I’m starting to figure this out. Thanks!
