From the OP it seems they cleared the codes for the sale because they came right back after driving a bit. That's ducking shady! But you say you have a reader? Why didn't you bring it when you checked out the truck? Could have told you right there that something's up if you see it say "no data stored" or sth like that.

Hind sight being 20/20 I should have done that. This truck was origanally sold at this dealership and they showed me all the service records for the previous owner. It showed no work outside of regular maintenance done on this truck.

    Too few to list.
Even with maintenance, it is likely that you'd get air injection code sooner or later. Some get it as early as 40K, some as late as 140K. Perhaps some doesn't even get it. I just see a lot of 2012's with this issue in this forum.

Hmmmmm please note the passage where it says " if a dealership cannot or refuses repair your vehicle after NUMEROUS ATTEMPTS"
Not just one. Not two, but numerous.
People should actually (read ) articles.
    ----------------------------------------------
Lemon Law differs from state to state, a lemon is generally defined as a vehicle that you’ve owned for less than two years that is defective. If the dealer or manufacturer either cannot repair your vehicle after (numerous) attempts or refuses to repair it, your vehicle is probably defective. If you’ve (repeatedly) brought your vehicle in for service for the (same or similar problems), and it still isn’t fixed, you probably have a lemon.
    ----------------------------------------------
OP is bringing car in for a first time fix, albeit it is new to him for just a day.
Lemon law is for vehicles that are historically dogged with NUMEROUS repairs .
OP is also as it is noted above going in with a great attitude :)

Killing them with kindness is the best approach. They want you to be satisfied and come back do business with them in the future as well as tell your friends and family.
Good luck and keep us posted.

OP - You've got to give them every opportunity to fix the problems before getting the states atty stirred up.

Also there should be, or may be, a law in your state known as "Buyers remorse law" that gives you 3 days to reconsider your purchase. It's to protect consumers and give them time to really re-read the paperwork etc... There's a chance it only applies to new cars though.

I think you did well to buy at a large established dealership. They'll make it right. Don't let yourself get worked up at the dealership. Avoid coffee for the day if you have too LOL.

Once you bring out talk about the attorney general is when the dealer's cooperation will end. 10 miles over warranty is out of warranty. Ride the kindness route as long as you can.

Chill brotha, just take it in and let them make it right. Chances are if it that big of a dealership they'll get it fixed up, it's a fairly common problem but if they sold it as a certified used Toyota it should be covered short term

My truck threw this code when I only had 10k miles on it. And like someone else has noted it is a common occurrence on the 2012. It was covered under my warranty. Hopefully when you bought this truck you got some type of warranty on it. It will be pricy to pay out of pocket.

This reminds me of my second favorite quote in the world, also from Roadhouse.
