Patiently waiting to find the right ride. Keeping in mind I am in Canada, so using our dollar, this is what i have found...I am hoping you can help me be objective, as I am falling in love and don't want to make a mistake! I have seen others I have really liked, but this one is...different :)
Sticker price was $32,900 for a 2013 Taco double cab long box basic with only 15,000 km's. After a bit of back and forth, manager says $30,200 is as low as he will go (but we got there without too much trouble). I walked out saying I could only afford $29,000.
Anything in my area for this km is around $34,000 (before dickering). Most others for $30,000 are probably around 60-90,000 km on average. Too many km's has stopped me from buying a few taco's as I want to keep this for many years. Should I try to get them to come down and meet me half way at $29,700 or just realize this is a great deal for the mileage (isn't it?) and pay the $30,200 if they don't budge anymore? Am I wrong in thinking this is a pretty great deal? I know its not far off the price of a new one, but I really don't feel comfortable paying more than $30,000. All numbers before tax.

    Thanks so much!

A 2013 with 15k miles.DCLB but is it a 4or6 cylinder!?2wd or 4wd!?Based on what you've posted and what there quoting you and what your willing to pay i would stick with your price or lower just by not knowing all the specs of the vehicle(Tacoma).

    nothing cool
You want below $30k and he wants $30,200. If this is the truck you really want and it's "the one" then don't lose it over $200. I can't tell you if it's really a great deal but it sounds like you did your research and it's priced well. Will the dealer go below $30k? Probably. So just get it buddy and enjoy.

Thanks folks. It's a 4x4 v6...is ther anything else I can tell you to help you all better gauge the price? It has heated mirrors, intermittent wipers etc.
I've found another one that is on a lot, same truck (but white) with 24,000 km and a sticker of $32,000 so I will call them to see if they will lower to the $29,000 I really want to pay. If they won't budge, I guess I know my answer. Thanks for all the continued help! This is a great community.

Pay what you're comfortable with and no more. There are plenty of trucks out there. Can't tell you whether or not it's a great deal for you, but to me, that's pretty good.

I wouldn't pass up the truck I wanted for $200, but having said that, I doubt the dealer will pass up a sale over $200 either.

Don't forget to factor in the cost of your time and energy, too. If you pass on this truck over a few hundred bucks how much are you going to spend down the road in looking for another unit, going to the dealers, test driving, haggling, etc.? Although I suppose you do have a second option truck lined up... and actually, that may give you more room to negotiate, pointing out to dealer A that a very similar truck is available nearby for a very similar price; if he wants to sell he will need to make his deal sweeter; and if he doesn't, off you go to dealer B to repeat the same tactic on him.

Use your second choice (white truck) as a bargaining chip using each dealer against the other. The dealers are not in love with any vehicle on their lot. They want to sell all of them. Offer the first dealer $29,500 and tell him you are going to the other dealer if he refuses. You will get the truck you want even if he comes back at a little over $29500. Hang tough.

It all boils down to how bad you want that truck. Just remember, there are other fish in the sea.

Toyota dealer here in Montana sells 2 year old (2013) Tacoma DCSB V6 4x4's with 60k miles for $29k (US). They sell the new ones for $31k (US).

If the conversion given above is correct, you're talking about $24k (US) for a 2013 Tacoma DCLB V4 4x4 with 15k KM on it. Sounds like a great deal to me assuming there's no hidden mechanical/structural issues that had to be repaired (salvage title, etc).

If they have room left and you stand firm they will find a way to get you into that truck. If they are willing to let you walk away and buy nothing... it's possible they really can't/won't go cheaper. But it will never hurt you to ask again.

You all have convinced me...we are so close, and I am convinced that at worst, I am still getting a pretty damn fair deal if I pay their last "bottom dollar deal"...I am going to try and get it. And if I don't, there are others that will come along. I will be sure to update you (hopefully) with pics! :) Thanks for all the help!

Well, I'm back...and happy to report that I am now a taco owner! While haggling, I made a couple offers of same price on similar taco's in the area but that had double the km's and both times the dealers didn't even counter, just said we were too far apart...so I got this one down another couple hundred bucks, I pulled the trigger...here is my ride...thanks to everyone who helped me!!!!truck.jpg
