I bought my 93 as a leftover in 94. It had no ac. I had been offering the dealer $9k for it for a couple months every time i was in the area. They couldn't sell the truck to anyone. Finally one day i got a call they accepted my offer. Truck was a blue extended cab with silver/gray graphics.

It's a shame no one is producing a proper compact truck anymore.

Back in the day I had quite a few friends with those 89-94 Toyota trucks. The 3.0L was gutless despite most having a 5MT and 4.56s, poor fuel efficiency on top of that. Head gasket failure was common, as were paint and rust issues.

I had an '88 4runner DLX with the 2.4L, 5MT and 4.10s. It never felt gutless, even with 31s. I'd get 25mpg out of it on long trips.

Yeah, real shame they don't make trucks like this anymore.

Yeah, it's going to be a real shame when the posting members are no longer 80% one time members with tire/wheel questions that have been answered 1263 times in 627 threads or insecure DBs that need strangers on the internet to praise them for installing ditch lights and rock sliders that they will never need.

Example: Some muppet that joined 2 weeks ago just made a thread (the 5th, all un-necessary, they have made in 2 weeks?!) asking about demon hooks. That is the 3rd thread that I can think of about those idiotic devices. Finding any useful info in here is going to be a exercise in meditation to try and wade through all the garbage for those that use a forum as it is intended. Go on FB if you want to get likes on your truck pictures.

    lol!

Never had any issues with rust or head gaskets on mine. Clear coat is baked off my ‘99 though. Took it around the block yesterday. Mang, that thing feels old and barbaric.

My 93 was an automatic 3.0 and gutless with a head gasket failure that was done in warranty. 6th year i had it the graphics started peeling off.
As far as fuel economy the truck wasn't super horrible for a 4wd. It averaged 17 mpg city/highway mix. My 2001 4.7 tundra that followed was a guzzler.

My 87 4 banger manual wasnt gutless until I went uphil, them it was gutless

My 93 v6 was the same way.

I think nostalgic memories rule. Anyone that thinks modern tacos are gutless should stay away from all toyota 4x4 pre 2k

Maybe meant he's trading his 2020 for it, just a guess?

Exactly re first sentence. I only need a regular cab, married with no kids. Love my 2010 for that reason plus it's paid for, new frame, and only 120K.

I’ve still got an 85. It’s a fun little truck, but nothing compared to my 3rd gen. If the 3rd gens were as small as the 1st they would be unstoppable.

I guess people forget that leaving a truck sit like that for 30 years stuff will still break down without being used. Gaskets and seals and liquids will all need to be replaced I bet. Engine and trans not being exercised as they should

You want to mention gutless, my 78 wolverine 4x4 conversion with the little 120 hp 4 banger if that was really underpowered.

Man, those pics bring back a ton of memories. Those 22R engines were incredible, virtually bulletproof. What a fine legacy Toyota trucks have. The DNA in these trucks is top notch.

    Oh, quit yer bitchen.
    Seriously.
Either ignore the post or take your own ass to facebook with your fb quality rants.
The irony of your comment is how unnecessary it truly is, and how it falls into the same category of those you criticize. Get over it bruh.

I love the old ones, but I'd never trade my new one for an old one. A secondary would be nice. But yea, 800 miles on it... it's not going to someone that is going to daily drive it.

This thread is already useless, my post didn't make it any more useless for anyone that may unfortunately come across it in the future. I ignore most and it's not my place to moderate but no one moderates around here unless it gets into hate speech/politics/etc.
