Isn’t it approximately 4” up and 4” down stock?

Do you understand who makes the factory springs for the TRD yellow Bilstein shocks on the 3rd gen?

Suggest you contact the manufacture of the factory suspension and get educated about the spring rate placed on new factory TRD Tacoma.

Here's what I tell myself when I hear random noises on my truck...

yes, approximately. With variables. I quoted a post based on a 3 inch lift which I believe is causing mass confusion here. My apologies

yes, which is of no relevance here since the OP is not running bilstein shocks but OME. Spring rates on newer OME coils with “x” on the product description are completely different than what you are referencing.

I think the confusion is that "down travel" typically means the amount of suspension travel between ride height and full droop, not the full suspension travel between full bump and full droop.

it is if you throw a 700lb/in spring on a truck that has no extra weight. You will end up with a top out contraption that the shock rebound can not control and rides like $hit.

The front IFS only has about 4.5” of shock stroke. Lots of people like to to reference tire travel but it’s misleading. Ideally your ride height would be in the middle with 50/50 up and down travel which is basically 2.5” up or down. Without changing geometry a 2” lift would theoretically make it 4” up and .5” of down travel. I don’t know how ARB configured their strut but surprised this wouldn’t have come up before.

That said I’ll occasionally thud my kings when dropping off rocks and stuff so it happens and I have maybe 3” down travel.

ARB has a sleeve so can’t tell how much of the shock rod is exposed to measure.
