My 04 came with the 265/70/16. At about 6000 I put 265/75/16 BFG A/T's on it and I've never looked back. I couldn't tell any lose of power and only lost about 1 MPG (big deal). They look amazing and really fill up the fender wells. I say stay with the 265/75/16, and go with an A/T with a less aggresive tread pattern. This will improve ride, be less noisey and help your MPG a little.

I have the duratracs and mine hum...but thats to be expected with an A/T tire. My GF had the BFG At's on her xterra they hummed too. I dropped about 1-2 mpg going from 256/70/16 Toyo Open Country (I hated those tires, wet weather traction sucked, wore out too fast) to the 265/75/16 duratracs, Again thats to be expected going to a larger diameter tire. I love my duratracs though, very aggressive tread and they have great traction in the rain. With my Toyos my rear end would break loose in the rain ALL the time when I took off at traffic lights w/ my 6spd. I have yet to get my duratracs to break loose. I drive pretty normal at traffic lights too, I don't take off fast.

Harden your bark, there are storms on the horizon.
    dynamat?

one of my favorite things about the Duratrac is that it's a quiet tire. well, quiet compared to my MTs, i guess. they don't seem to be any louder than the rugged trails that came on the truck to me? can't wait for the snow this year...i had to eek around last winter and nearly got hung up a couple times...hopefully the snowflake on the side of the tire is well deserved...if not, they will get studded...THEN they'll be kinda loud

ITs a truck not a prius....hwy tires LOL

More aggressive tires = More HUM

    MTs= Most HUM

Crank up the stereo and enjoy the music to try and drown it out. But honestly you get used to it, or it pisses you off and you lose it - Your choice.

I got 16.2 on this tank. A little bit better.

I am going to keep them.

Two posts earlier got me thinking:

    1. Gotta pay to play.

    2. What if I don't like what I get after these?

So I decided to keep em! :D

Sorry man, didn't mean to scare ya! I guess I got a little wishy washy but the tires are starting to grow on me!

My next service I am going to get my mechanic to re-balance them as I am sure the monkeys at Discount Tire didn't do a good enough job! I will post back and let you all know!

Same here! Seems the more reviews and threads i read, the less I can decide between a tire. BFGs vs Duratracs at the moment..

I know that really is the case. The more I read the more I wonder lol.

I have tried mutiple types of BFG's (Rugged Trail, Mud T's and All T's) I wasnt real pleased with the way they wore. But that's just IMO.

I lost about 1 mpg going from 245/75 hts to 265/75 duratracs. I had a cop speedcheck me and it was right 0n @ 45mph.
I think the biggest factor is tire weight. I didn't see in the thread if the OP (by the way what does OP mean?) ever mentioned whether he had the C or E load range. The Es are freekin HEAVY. I looked at tire wts. very closely when I bought mine and only went up about 5 pounds in weight. The chunkier tread blocks and extra 2cm of width are gonna drag down mpgs as well.
the duras are definitely noisier than ATs but the badass looks are worth it.
Duratracs all the way. Assuming I get at least 40k out of em that is.

Glad you decided to keep them! I know you asked me what I thought of my duratracs and I told you how great they were! Discount messed up balancing mine the first time they put them on. I was getting vibes around 55mph. I took my truck back and they said some of the tires were off by 5 ounces. They rode perfectly after that.

OP means original poster. The guy that started the thread.

Thanks Andrew. I knew what OP referred to but was glad to find out what it is actually abbreviating.

I guess they are alright. I was on the interstate going about 80. wah wah wah.:p

Trust me you guys! If you want a quiet, no noise ride, don't get these!

But they do look good! :p

I am seriously going to get them rebalanced by my mechanic at toyota and see if he can do better. I just don't truck the Discount Monkeys!
