First, a short explanation of my where-abouts these past few months because I'm sure you're all wondering (pause...not)

I've been busy enjoying my Tacoma - the end

OK so now onto my titled post. In the below Jeep superbowl commercial, a driver puts up 2 Fingers on the steering wheel as he passes another Jeep driver. it's near the end

    https://youtu.be/pOiiPxb-Gbw

I thought this was a Toyota thing... I don't mean to attack any Jeep drivers here, but honestly I thought this was a Toyota community thing for the hardcore Toyota owners (mainly Tacoma) and I feel like Jeep took this from us and put it into their marketing campaign...

What do you guys think and what does everyone else do when they're driving and see and damned sexy Tacoma or otherwise that they appreciate and know the owner is proud of?

Sometime I give 'em two fingers, sometimes I just flick my hazards once at them

Not that I want proof (since both sides could say the same thing) but I want proof!

Nah, but in all seriousness, is there something the toyota community does in particular? I've seen some high ranked sex appeal trucks out there and given "the wave" and maybe had it reciprocated 3 times in my life. Am I doing it wrong? Am I supposed to put a jeep emblem on the grill of my Tacoma?

People have been coming here trying to get people in on it since TW started...but in reality there's far too many Tacomas owned by people who AREN'T enthusiasts

Plus I don't have any interest in waving at every Tacoma that passes me

I was thinking the motorcycle wave is separate from the jeep wave given the number of wheels. (besides the idea that the motorcycle wave is not strictly between Harley-Davidsons, its all motorcycles! :bikewheelie2::bikewhoops::bikewheelie:)

There is a pretty well known story from the 1920s about how the wave started between Bill Davidson and William Harley. I will try to find it.

The V-wave as a 'greeting in passing' in regards to vehicles probably originated with Allied soldiers during WWII. Most of the American ones were buzzing around in Jeeps, so I'd say that Jeep had a head start on Toyota Tacoma drivers by about 50 years.

Interesting... I live in Milwaukee near the H-D museum and I don't remember seeing that in the museum anywhere. I'd like to know that story. <-- not trying to be rude, I'd actually like to hear the history!

I am trying to find the one that has quotes from Bill and one of the Davidson brothers. It was a pretty cool read.

Even when I take my FJC out, I think I got maybe 4 waves in 2 years..and that's from modded FJ's.

Well I'll have to conclude that this just isn't a thing like I was expecting. You have all put my arguments between my wife and I to rest. If anyone happens to see a pair of butt cheeks in the windscreen of a white 3rd gen, consider it a hello from me to you! :D (I'm starting a new fad)
