Sucks being OCD but that’s me

As promised my update. I will say I am very fortunate to have a good dealership. I know that is not the case for everybody. I have been dealing with this particular dealership for the better part of 20 years.

With that said, they did not need a new hood, and there was hardly any paint work. It ended up being the fender like someone in the previous comments had mentioned. Anyway, they are seeing a few of these roll in this way and I have not picked it up yet, but my buddy that works there sent me pics and I’m happy with how it turned out.

I will get more detailed info on exactly what they did Saturday when I’m back in town to pick it up.

They aligned my oem hood a lot better than it was from factory.

Like I said, before, I usually end up repainting a hood anyway, if I keep a vehicle long enough, I’m not worried about paint work, and all that they guarantee it for as long as I own it, but looks like they were able to accomplish this task without too much intervention. Anyway, good luck to anybody else who ends up doing this.

Glad they corrected to your satisfaction. The hoods alone weigh as much as a Corolla, and it seems pretty clear that it’s a difficult process for them to line them up perfectly on install. After 3 Tacomas, I noticed that each one had slightly different hood gap alignments. Gave them character…

My 2022 had and my 2023 have the same issue. I thought it was the way they were manufactured, so I didn’t/don’t care.

Still all in my head… but I’m keeping the chrome bumper!
Seriously we need to remember that these are trucks. I think we all want them so bad that when we finally get them they can’t possibly live up to the standards in our heads.

A simple adjustment of the fenders and a little tweaking on the hood adjustments I think was a big help. I would be curious as to what paint work was done. Did they say some paint work was done? Glad it worked out for you OP.

Keep holding the manufacturer/Toyota to its high standards to remind them why we buy their brand in the first place. If I wanted hyuandai or Kia quality gaps and panel alignments I would have bought one of those ….
I’ve had tons of trucks…. All auto makers slipped during COVID. we the consumers are the only ones that have a chance of keeping them in check - minimally sure…. But still. Just because it’s a “truck” doesn’t mean it’s ok to produce a subpar assembled product or skip QA steps

I see that you're in VA. Have you shared the name of the dealership? Because so far the ones I've dealt with haven't been up to snuff.

Ah well. Too far south and east-ish for me. I was hopeful. Glad it got taken care of though.

Cool. My buddy who grew up in Chesapeake knows the owner as well

I had an awful exp at first team Honda….

but at Toyota it’s been all good. Body shop sup Bob always did great, after he left I guess Joe took over and he kept every promise he made to me. Like I said above FT Toyota has been good to me for almost 20 years - so far so good.

The prior owner also a dear friend until he passed a few years ago, owned it when it was Tower, then they sold it to my other friend who owned the Chevy lot next door and the one in Hampton. Small world.
