2008 Tacoma, I went up to big bear over the past weekend and not sure if the combination of the icy temps and the drive up the mountain that finally did it in, but ever since I came back down I started to get a lot of rattle when turning or bumpy roads, did a bit of search on TW and found I have some play in the bed mount on the passenger side closes to the cab (which seems to be the common location for this to happen for whatever reason). I've put in an order for a Torx set that will arrive Thursday since the largest i had was a T-50, but given how little play there is (See video.) I'm not sure if I should shim it with something or simply try to torque it again and hope for the best, I would say it's somewhere about 1/32 of play so not very much.

If I could locate 1/2" ID delrin (acetal) washers I would be tempted to go ahead and retrofit the entire bed with them to protect the composite from rubbing away but so fair havent found them readily available in small (non industrial) quantities. Would nylon washers hold up? or other non metal washer?

Just crank it down onto the sleeve/bushing the composite bed isn't going to rub away on anything. I had the same problem on my 07, tightened down the bolt. I monitored it and in 9 years of heavy use hauling wood/atvs/construction supplies never saw any rubbing or degradation

I hope so, but a lot of the reading I did here on TW I got the impression from other members it was due to wear on the mount point rubbing against the frame.

Buy a sheet of UHMW from McMaster and shim it. You should be able to make a shim with a pair of shears and a drill.

My 15' wore out the front right after only 35k. I've only had the shim in for 7k but so far so good; the wear has not gotten worse.

I read about that too rethinking it if it doesn't seem to be seated enough to the yes add some kind of material. My bed on my 15 was a little crooked and a few washers solved it. a single washer might be a cheap solution
