I always remember my Dad telling me how to put my hand on the shifter to remember the gear pattern.

I actually really liked that truck. It had a full bench seat with no carpet on the floor. I think it was a 305 v8. I bought it used in '85. I think it had less than 20k on it. I was 21 and thought it was cool.

Don't forget the clicker on the floor for your hi beams. I'm one of the 5 I guess.

I still think that is the superior setup. I don't like too many stalks on the column, I always hit them when I am wearing mittens or thick gloves while driving. I prefer:

    -Floor high beams switch
-Dash switch for headlights and wipers

Some of my old VWs had the switch on the floor.

Just to make sure that the hijack is complete, I drove a work van (thinking it was a chevy, but memories from the 70's are fuzzy) that had a three + granny on the tree. That thing was a trip.

This was my daily driver from 18 to 21. Had to park it for a while... but I too know what you're talking about.

Wow, how long did you spend perusing the forum for this? I wish I had that kinda time on my hands! You know, the kinda time that makes you forget that this is Tacoma World and not 4Runner World?

He's 18...and his dream is to have a 50' or 60's truck...or car...but prefers a truck...for such a young kid he does have taste and style...for his 1st car, I almost bought him a 1966 buick convertible...if only the rear deck lid wasn't so rotted from the conv. top.

These guys that dog on the Tacoma then go buy ANOTHER Toyota, then talk down to the Tacoma owners are killing me...

I like to protest the burgers at McDonald's then go inside and order Chicken McNuggets. The rest of you are silly and unreasonable.

Honest answer...maybe 3 to 5 minutes...which I'm guessing is about a 1000% more than you put into the last two of yours I quoted.

It had the clicker on the floor, no sliding window, no AC, no PW. I did no mods to it at all. I drove it for four years or so until things changed and I bought an '88 Corsica.

I've had the shifting issues with the trans on my '16. Went in for my 10k service and had a TSB done and it is so much improved. It's not perfect but I'm finally enjoying driving it now. Was it frustrating and annoying at first? Yes. Do I think some of the issues are/were over blown by some? Yes.

    Solid truck.
