I just sometimes like pointing out uninformed blanket statements such as yours regarding T4R owners being either without the ability to reproduce or are females...and whatever that's supposed to imply.

And, like you, while not "entitled" to express my opinion on this privately owned site certainly have one which I happily shared. Tho I may not be over whatever "it" is.

Awe, your a youngster then! I'm 61 but still enjoy the occasional off road tracks, dirt biking, & camping. Nothing to difficult but I still want to be prepared for the worst. I'm thinking air bags and some decent shocks in the future. Probably no lift, although I must say I like the overall looks. In my opinion the ride in the stock OR is a little soft. :)

I've been on several forums for all manner of things. Guys say stuff, then all of a sudden everyone wants to fight and it's like "you too don't even KNOW each other!"

We live in a world where unfortunately it's okay to lose your shit over something you read on the internet. That's not a world I think any of us want to live in.

And by acknowledging our PM conversation, you proved yourself to be the upstanding man in this exchange. God bless!

On with the talk of crappy trucks, nice cars, and how my father can beat up your father!

Meh. Taking off the top of an SUV is simple with a sawzall.

Putting it back on is the tricky part. :D
Definitely. Perhaps see if you can rent one for a weekend and really use it how you'll use it.

I'm quite happy with my truck, does everything I want it to, but clearly some folks got bad copies or have needs/expectations that don't match up with the truck. Make sure you get some real seat time before buying.

Ha, now there was some fun. Manual everything back in the day.

I've done M/T for a daily driver. Great in less urban areas, truly sucks in Atlanta traffic. No thank you.

I own a '16 4Runner and a '05 Tacoma. Since buying the 4Runner I no longer need to wear rubbers and my family is no longer growing in numbers. Lol but once I drive my Tacoma all bets are off.

In all seriousness though the only thing the taco has over the runner is a bed. The runner is so much more refined. Oh and I have two nobs for mts and crawl, so there.

That's why we have so many choices in vehicles. If everyone had the same tastes and opinions we'd all be driving around in the same vehicles, colour etc.

In soviet Russia car drives you (need to use your best Russian accent when saying that for full effect.)

Just spend 5k to put on 33" tires and a 4.88 regear when your truck is brand new....trans issues gone.....

Seriously I did that and it's great.

Side note... what is wrong with me?

Since you mentioned camping and SR5 w/tow package, I thought I would add my input. I have the SR5 w/tow package for this exact reason. I have no interest in damaging my truck off road, because I need it to pull my camper. If my truck is damaged because I was off roading, then I can't go camping. The SR5 w/tow package works great, I did add the fire stone air bags and OME leaf packs, this adds for a better ride and better toing control. I tried the Sumo springs, didn't like them, tried AAL, didn't do what I needed them to do. Just wanted to add my input is all.

    Thanks for the input.
I just want a little more beef back there for towing. My current truck ('13) has Hellwig helpers and I'd never put those on another one. It seems like another leaf would make it sit extra high in the back and make it ride much rougher. Why didn't you like the Sumos? That's the direction I'm leaning in.

I also used the Hellwig helper and I also didn't like that either. My truck is a '13 DCSB. I didn't like the Sumos for the following reason. When I had the camper in tow, they worked great, as designed by the manufacturer and as advertised, however when there is nothing in tow and really no weight in the bed, the truck bottoms out hitting hard when you go over a bump in the road, and this is because the sumos are taller than the factory bump stops, really that's all the sumos are is a longer bump stop capable of holding a lot of weight on them.

The hellwig's: I felt were too stiff, yes they are suppose to be, but that hindered the ride quality when again there is nothing in tow and there is no weight in the bed of the truck.

The Sumos weren't ok for just normal driving? I read somewhere that they lift the rear of the truck 1/2". Was that the case with yours?

I also plan on having a cap which is great for hauling camping gear that doesn't go in the camper. I also read where someone said that they added beef in the back due to weight of their cap?? How can a 5' cap weigh a truck down that much?

I agree, the Sumos are not great for normal everyday driving conditions. They never added any lift to the truck either. I also have a 5' cap on my truck and the reason it weighs the truck down is because the factory leaf springs aren't that great, even though the cap only weighs a few hundred#'s. Imagine the weight of the cap and the weight of whatever you put in the back of the truck, the rear will sag for sure. That's why I installed the OME Dakars. Not only do they support the weight of, my cap, all the crap I put in the back of the truck for camping and my camper, they also provide a better than factory ride, during normal everyday driving conditions and when pulling the camper.

I guess this means I'm going the Hellwig route again? I wonder if the smaller 550s would amount to anything?

It looks like I'm going with the SR5, 5 ft bed, auto with alloy wheels (I hate the constant rust battle with the steel) in MGM. I'm hoping to use the SR5 savings to buy a cap and Sumos.

I'm probably not going to pull the trigger until August which makes me wonder how close the '18s will be by then and if there would be incentives on the 17s and if there will be changes on the 18s?
