On Taco Tuesday, January 3, I bought my first Tacoma.
My first truck, actually, though the wife and I have had a number of unibody SUVs over the years.
130k mi, 1-owner, SunFire red, standard cab, 6' bed, 5-lug, 2wd, 2.4L, 5-spd Manual 1998 Tacoma is mine all mine. Decoder says it's Fa40 Tan interior, and the door panels and trim agree, but the bench seat looks gray to me. Also in good shape for 25 years old. Perhaps there's a story there.

Has off-brand 195 touring tires on stock 14" steelies. Needs one tailgate cable, and probably windshield washer lines. Other than that, well maintained with all records, but definitely used as the family truck.

I've been using whatever coupe, sedan, hatchback, SUV or convertible I've been driving as a truck for decades. It will be nice to have something dedicated to the task.

I'm looking forward to dropping soil, lumber, furniture, appliances, and most importantly my StumpJumper in the back without muddying up the wife's fancy SUV. Should be a fun little runabout.

    Edit: Pics are in!

    Thanks!
    Sorry - It is worthless.
Bought from a neighbor. He wanted to make sure the check clears, and probably clean out his stuff. Taking actual delivery on Friday.

It's against the rules to post about a 'new' Tacoma before having it to take pictures of, you know...

    Damn.
On here for one day and already in trouble with the law.

I’d like to say pics on Friday, but we’re gearing up for an atmospheric river out here, so it may take a little longer to shine her up and get something posted.
    But I’ll try!

    Nah.
He seems a really good guy. Plus, I know where he lives.

Due to space, he's got it parked at Another neighbor's house right now. I just swung by to measure the tailgate for a RaceFace T2 tailgate pad.
Probably sounds even more sketchy... But it isn't.
He wanted me to pick it up today, but I have Friday off work, so that was my idea.

So excited, I'm already looking at floor mats, ramps, and tires.
    Oh, tires.
Anything in a 205/75 for those 5JJ14 pizza-cutters that will offer a little traction on gravel roads and muddy paths?
(I'll probably start a new thread once I get it in hand and see how it works.) (And post pictures.)

Sounds like a good neighbor. Lots of great mod/accessory info on this sight, and I'm sure others will chime in with plenty of tire recommends, not really my area of expertise. Good luck and, more importantly, enjoy your new truck.

By the title I thought you had used the truck as a Submarine!

    Good luck!

    Oh, harsh.
I guess photos won’t wait until the T2 comes in.

Next you guys will probably hate on me since I washed the bike (for the first time) last week.
