i have been having troubles with my brandnew mathews Z7. idler lean is a problem. i have straightened the lean out, but it takes an extraordinary amount of cable twisting to achieve it. something was wrong, and i knew it. bow shoots pretty good. postage stamp groups out to 30. things get less confidence inspiring out any further.

i was sitting in a stupid treestand all last week. no killing, but lots of time to think, and stare at my bow. then it dawned on me!! some mathews bow builder strung my bow up wrong. i went back to camp and looked at every mathews bow..i was right!!

i got back home. cut and pasted every stupid suggestion some mathews tech told me to try..and told them I FOUND THE PROBLEM!! i also showed them all the receipts for $$ i used to try to fix it..attached photos. thank goodness i took pictures of my stock bow before i changed the cables!! my bow pro simply followed mathews lead and re-strung my bow WRONG!!

they emailed back FAST! they will forward my email to management to come up with some resolution. with strings and cables ( 2 sets) and money spent with a bow mechanic (all idiots for not noticing the problem)..i am about $240 above and beyond the cost of the new bow.

i am annoyed. i should have gone with an ELITE bow.

the cable and string go thru the two wheels on the cable guard..down the middle. the inner wheel is red, and is supposed to correspond with the cable..they ran the string thru it and put the cable in the outer (black) wheel. this forced the idler to the right..insane.

the mathews guy admitted that would cause all sorts of issues.

That was my guess when you said the cable was installed wrong. Glad you found it I would be asking mathews to send me a new bow do to potential problems from the undo stress on the bow :)

I was not impressed with the new hoyt spec's other then maybe the 32" new carbon bow almost 1/2 a pound lighter then the rest.

havent taken it in. i'll do it maybe tuesday. i just finished re-landscaping my front yard to "wife specs"..i bought myself some "me" time..hahhaha

i also have jerry at southshore archery building me some lightweight, very nose heavy arrows. he said, arrows with around 15% FOC..(front of center) shoot crazy good with broadheads..what the hell.?

i am famous for throwing good money after bad.

wow, wasn't aware you were having more problems. So was I folowing you right that the main problem was the Mathews techs and the way they set up the bow? Are you upset at the bow when actually it was not set up right from the start? Just curious about this because when I sit in a stand this weekend all day drooling and fondling this new Z7 I want to enjoy it.:D

hoosier. my bow was shooting pretty good, just not consistent. one day perfect, next day 3" to the right with broadheads.

i had my bow re-strung with new strings. specs are dead on, but my cam timing is a bit off. (string not perfectly centered in timing hole), but DAMN! straight away, i was hitting bulls with fieldtips. i never touched my sight or rest. i put in a broadhead, say a prayer, and let it go. it hit dead on at 20. one thing i noticed right away. minor adjustments with my rest (right/left) doesnt affect the arrow flight as much anymore. before, you go one way or another, things get wacky.

i tried pressing my bow and getting timing better, but with my tools it is hell.

mathews stepped up. the VP of the technical dept CALLED ME! he talked to me for about an hour. he was really cool. he felt horrible, and told me he tore the production dept a "new one". i bet i could have parlayed the conversation into a hunting invite..hahahha. he did say some stupid stuff, like tell me mathews bows like to shoot underspined arrows. i just rolled my eyes. whatever.
