I trimmed my mud flaps shorter- they turned out great!

I bought the $30 Amazon mudflaps for some rock protection. They looked to be decent quality just like the oem ones-...but very long! I scraped them on the first day just going over tall speed humps in my neighborhood- that’s not very off roady of them :(
Instead of taking them off and getting mad I trimmed a few inches off the bottom of them with tin snips then sanded the bottom edges smooth. They no longer scrape and have some more flexibility now that the stiff bottom mud collecting lip is gone. I think they turned out pretty good. They still function as intended blocking flying rocks and no longer catch the ground so it’s a win win.

The running boards are plastic over steel 2nd gen oem, $300 from eBay , had to dremel the bracket holes slightly bigger to fit. They tuck up high and don’t ruin ground clearance and most importantly don’t remove leg skin when you get out.

They are 2nd gen running boards not the 3rd gen aluminum ones. I like them better since they protrude out less being easier to step over while still providing door ding and stone protection. They fit the 3rd gen without modification, I have done it twice.
