Is this where I can post "does anyone in the Phoenix area know a great painter"? I have an OEM Pro scooped hood I need painted MGM. The bids I've gotten are crazy high so far and not really great referrals. (they only recommended someone they "think" does great)

If anyone has a contact, it would be appreciated.

Get a quote from the paint supply store on paint products for ...
    Sandpaper
    Sealer with reducer and hardener
    Base coat and reducer
    Clearcoat and hardener
Sandpaper to sand for buffing 1500/3000 grit
    Compound/ glaze /swirl remover
    Pads for buffing
Spray guns (600$ a piece for good ones need 3)
    Buffer.

Not flaming you at all fyi but trying to explain why paintwork is expensive (mostly product). What have your quotes been? Don't take it to maaco.

    Hi,

I completely appreciate the cost of the specialty paint industry. I've customized my trucks in the past and I'm also very quick to pay well for labor skills I don't have which does include painting. I just wasn't ready for an $1100 quote to paint an OEM hood with the "possibility it may be more if we have to match the fenders. And by the way, we need the truck for 5 days." I got similar quotes from 3 shops in town. Even Peoria Toyota collision which was recommended wasn't that high and they do an outstanding job I'm told.

I received a direct message with a great lead and they took a look at my truck today. They only need the truck for two days and the quote was extremely reasonable and included blending as needed. I saw some of his work and he loves what he does which showed. These guys also powder coat so that will be great in the future as well.

I appreciate the feedback and the leads. The forum seems to be the perfect place to find great new resources in the Phoenix area. Thanks!!

Good sounds like your all set . Yeah it can get expensive. Just because some charge more doesn't mean you'll get better work . Most places warranty work too .

Thrilled! Cayote Auto (Travis) did an amazing job. Matched the color so no fender blending needed. Warranty their work, love what they do, and super nice guys. They are also going to work on a side project so a win-win!

Too dark for pics but will add them to my build thread. Thanks for the PM and great recommendation. This is shat's amazing about this forum.

I had a great experience with x1 off-road in Mesa he color matched my fiberglass fenders a while back and they were awesome. Very affordable.

I thought I did but I think he must do all his marketing in Instagram now. Not sure if this helps but his name is x1_custom_ride_shop

This is pretty local to me. I'm also thinking about getting some paint work done so I might check them out for a quote. grill and bumper matte black, roof and hood OEM Indigo Blue. I need to buff and wax the other panels though to even give the painter a good idea of what shade to try for if they even can. Ain't paying top dollar for this lil work truck though and will try and do most prep work myself and possible paint the front bumper and grill matte black myself.
