So I have decided that the RTT is just not for me lol just spent 5 nights straight in it in Colorado and I was so tired and wore out, I can do a weekend but anything more than that is just not for me lol. So I have been looking at campers and I have found a couple that I Like but the one I like most is 4700lbs dry, what do y'all think?

Why such a big camper? Large family? We have a Starcraft AR-One Extreme with the 14RB floor plan and it's around ~2500 lbs dry and it's plenty of room for the wife and I

I've been thinking along the same lines. I've been sleeping in my ARE MX cap while camping, but week-long cold-camping wears on you after a while. It would be nice to take a shower, or stay inside to use the bathroom after a while. I've narrowed my search to either a 4x4 set-up custom (self) built 6x12 box trailer or a Casita. http://casitatraveltrailers.com/ The Casitas are amazing. Truly lightweight, aerodynamic, better sealed for extended season camping, and they hold their value like Tacos. You can get the high wheel option, or fix it up yourself. The drawbacks on Casitas are the entry price and smaller interior size compared to 8.5' wide trailers with slides. If you like the Casitas and have unlimited cash, get an Olie https://olivertraveltrailers.com/trailers/legacy-elite/

I've been looking at Casitas. At under 2K lbs dry, some of the lightest around.

Well from talking to several friends and family members that have them, they all said do not sacrifice on what your wanting or you will regret it and always get bigger than you think you need lol... because we all know buying an RV isn't the smartest investment it is an extremely expensive toy that loses value.... but the endless memories are worth it in my opinion...

True. I weighed the value of my trips vs my investment. We got our unit for $8k, only two years old and perfect shape. For that price, I'm fine with the several weeks a year we use it. But if you're spending a good amount, weigh the cost vs the money to just rent a cabin. We used to rent nice places and had no problem finding them for less than $800/week. And to me, a camper isn't really camping in the traditional mean and you'd save money and mpgs just renting. If you get all the bells and whistles (and a huge trailer length) you'll basically be stuck camping at glorified parking lots to get hookups.

We did two weeks in our camper in June, road tripped to Maine and back, and I couldn't stand some of the places we had to camp. Tons of noisy kids, no peace and quiet, etc, but we had to get hookups and none of my family likes to rough it except my wife and I.

Few weeks back we primitive camped in our camper in western MD and it was such a relaxing experience when compared to our Maine trip. And only $10 a night! Most sites with just water and electric were $40+ in campgrounds.

Check Craigslist, ppl will be getting rid of campers now that the season is over. Most don't want to pay storage fees. Bought my pop up last year for $500.00 .20170311_123939.jpg

I got my used pop up camper this year. They are the best since they are really light and mine sleeps 9 supposedly. I know I can get a comfortable 7 on a rainy night if needed.

As others have mentioned, scour Craigslist, you can find deals galore in the RV section and there are many lightweight options that would be fine with your Taco.

If you aren't against giving up your bed on these trips, Four Wheel Camper makes an incredible Truck Camper option. I owned one several years back, and it was worth every penny.

Check out a company called Taxa they make extremely well built campers. You may like the cricket it weighs 1500 pounds dry we got a Tiger Moth which only weighs 900 pounds. There's a build for it in my sig. The TM is very basic but built to handle going off road.

We love it so far it's kinda like tent camping but not tent camping. It's a lot of fun and this truck barely knows it's back there. We're hoping to have the power supply sorted and a shower and pottie by next spring so we can go completely off grid. The factory is in Texas

I agree with all of that statement. We first bought a 19' trailer no pop out used. It had everything we thought we wanted in a trailer. After using it a few times we decided we needed more room and a better place to chill. Luckily we bought it used and got out of it what we put into it... Ended up buying a 25' with pop out. Its about 4800lbs also. I was a weight nazi when we originally were searching for a trailer. The 2nd trailer (after reading in this forum) i set my weight limit at 5000..
Not even a little bit do i now regret getting the new bigger trailer. For some odd reason it pulls better than the 19' we had.
Im very thankful i bought used 1st and learned from my mistake and didnt have a financial loss.

We started with a 19' rockwood mini lite .... 2nd was also a rockwood minilite 25'
I liked the build and features of them.
