Aww it's not so bad. At least it's not a bunch of faux graphic equalizer LEDs :D

I was looking for something very quite in colors (no flashing stuff) with tune and volume control knobs, touch screen but also with basic hardwired buttons. I wanted to have backup camera, but I have listed all features that are must witch one of them was price :).

I got Planet Audio (150 bucks on Amazon) with BT connection (phone and audio), DVD, USB drive, micro SD, and RDS. No Navigation (the best is Google Maps anyway) and basic amplifier which does not blow up stock speakers but is loud enough to make my wife scream at me.

Installed looks like it was made by Toyota just for this truck.

As you can see I have basic 95.5 model. No bells and whistles just basic manual 4x4.

    These all features:

Of course St wheel control is not used as I don't have it in my truck

    +1 for Kenwood.

I installed their Excelon KDC-X895 several years ago. It's single DIN and allows user selection of the light color, providing an almost exact match for the factory dash lights. Like SixthSnail's, it looks almost OEM.

I think that touchscreen option looks most OEM to me year of the vehicle notwithstanding. I know exactly what you mean OP, being a stupid kid I changed out the audio system on my Jeep Wrangler within a year of getting it. After a couple years I thought it really made the interior look cheap so I put the factory head unit back in (and sold that stupid sub I bought for it). :facepalm:That was a $750 mistake I will never make again.

Well some head units offered here seem close but I'm not really warm and fuzzy on any of them..maybe they could grow on me but it's looking like I'm gonna probly go with Parrot..mount the input dongles in one of the lower blanks Zept for iPod connector which maybe in the glove box or not atall, and the lcd in either the top blank or maybe down at the bottom somewhere , , the mic..undecided yet
    Nothing is for sure yet..

Kenwood DPX500bt. it's a double din that looks great. The LED color matches the Tacoma's orange LEDs and the color of it the unit itself matches in with the dash. It even includes a matte plastic fit ring. I have one in my truck and it looks perfect.

I'm OCD with that kind of thing to the point that when I installed a new rear view mirror with compass and thermometer I had to have one custom made to make sure the LED in the compass matched the orange in the truck

They also make a single din unit but I forget the name. I have that one in my 87 325ic and the orange matches the BMW orange too. Both are good quality units.

I just installed Kenwood's DPX501BT in my truck; I'm sure is very similar to the DPX500BT (looks almost identical based on a quick google search). I'm very happy with it it's functionality, and it was only $112 on Amazon. You can choose virtually any color for the illumination, either selecting from among several presets, or by carefully adjusting the RGB settings independently. I have the color set to match right now, but I have to say it's not as bright as I'd like it to be on bright sunny days. I may just switch to white and leave it at that, just so I can be assured of seeing it well all the time. My only complaint is that most of the non-illuminated portions of the unit are glossy, which contributes to the visibility problem in certain lighting conditions.

The USB connection charges my iPhone and supports audio output, but for various reasons I prefer using Bluetooth Audio Streaming. Kenwood is also known for having a good quality microphone (external) for hands free calling over bluetooth. You can adjust the mic gain, noise reduction, and echo cancel, to get the best possible call quality. It took me about 2 hours to install it myself.

This is a JVC double din with USB. This model doesn't have Bluetooth but the model above does. It has about 30,000 colors to choose from and you can dim down the color to match the brightness of your dash lights. Mine is green and I was able to dim it down so that while night driving it didn't light up the whole cab. Here is the link for the model above mine which includes bluetooth.

I just installed the one keakar shows above (Pioneer Model: FH-X720BT). It provides the modern features you are asking for, but I was expecting a greater increase in sound quality. Time to replace all 4 speakers now.
