I am probably one of the few people in this forum that actually went out and bought a new 2010 Tacoma after the SHTF in regards to the media's stories on the recalls and halt in sales of the 8 models. It's my second Tacoma and 3rd Toyota; what else was I gonna buy? :notsure:

It's a fantastic truck, BTW

Another member posted this link first but it is a good read for everyone. History teaches many lessons...........if you pay attention.

To the OP. I will not bash you. All I will say is that you are coming to a conclusion before all the facts are known. The news media is notoriously INACCURATE in how they present stories. They have an interest in creating a sensation to sell product. They will correct a front page story inside the back cover. I know this for a fact about anything that I know well. I am a Master Tech (not for Toyota) and an automotive instructor. Please look for your own facts. Wait for a final picture to be painted before you decide if it is an elephant or a flower. Everyone is in this for their moment of fame.

If a story reads like it was typed with adrenalin, look for the Axe the writer needs to grind. Even an "expert" can give biased information. Just leave out what does not support your position or emphasis what supports you the most and minimize the rest. Question everything you read as much as Toyota should be questioned and you will likely live a happier life.

I don't think my post is being evaluated correct, I have no problem with Toyota, I like my Tacoma very much. The problem I have is I was deceived!!!
I was sold damaged goods, I realize Toyota is going to stand behind any and all problems, but if they knew about the problems and sold it anyway it is wrong. I don't think I would purchased anything knowing something was wrong, Now if Toyota did not know that is a different thing. What if you purchased a TV got it home and it didn't work, and then find out that the store knew it didn't work-sold it anyway, and then told you they would fix it. Do you think you would keep the TV? Like I said, If I purchased the Tacoma with Counterfeit money, that would be fraudulent, and Toyota would want the truck back, because that is illegal, and so is knowingly selling defective goods. Doc

ps I just read a post above where a person purchased a new Toyota after all this broke loose, I have a friend who did the same thing, and I would buy another one also, but I would expect it to not being in need of repair, my issue is not with the truck it is with the deception.

if you were deceived then that's illegal false advertising, you should sue Toyota. I bet you'd win.

    Pretty much stock
Call it what you want, but if toyota covered up some known defects...on ANY toyota vehicle...that is pretty shady. I still love my truck...but it is shady business practices.

And odds are the only reason they are saying sorry is because they got caught, afterall the coverups we are hearing about were intentional.

If I could start over and not suffer a monetary loss, I'd buy another brand, in fact I'd get rid of this truck right now. Not that it's a piece of shit, but I don't like its short comings and after years of loyal Toyota ownership, I don't like all of the shit they've pulled. Fuck toyota for now IMO.
I have a number of friends with full size GM and Ford trucks, they don't have all of the issues some of the overly defensive Toyota lovers reference here
I hope they don't plummit in value so I can trade it in....time will tell.

Gm had chevy gas tanks blowing up on them years ago, the pinto's were blowing up, Sometimes these car companies would rather pay out a few good sized settlements than have a massive recall. I guess the point is they have all been there and done that.

And to keep on with what has already been said. Toyota STILL, even with the recalls and all that crap, have better resale value than the Big 3 ever wish they could get.

Everyone has mistakes. It's human nature. You shouldn't be all bitchy about all the little things manufacturers do. Its a Truck (car, SUV, etc). NOTHING is PERFECT

    end rant: :)
