suspension. what's up everybody, I have an 02 Tacoma xtra ca. trd package. to keep this simple, it rides extremely harsh. I'm looking for options to soften the ride. I'm not looking for Cadillac plush comfort. just a softer experience. I've searched and everything has to do with lifting trucks. I could care less about lifting and have no interest in doing so. it's lifted enough from the factory. im willing to replace springs struts and the leaf springs. occasional off road camping trips, I love driving this little monster in the snow and its daily driven. I have not found one post related to what I'm looking for and beginning to think I'm SOL. edit: my truck is completely stock. dealer replaced suspension last year when Toyota replaced my frame. and yes it has the updated leaf pack.

What is your current suspension? Stock? Lifted?

Stock shocks? The stock Tokicos are pretty soft.

I'm not exaggerating. the ride is unbearable. I'm 26 years old. I ride a bmx bike. dirt bikes. I know pain lol and this thing is harsh. it's become a chore to drive and contemplating selling it

How many miles? Maybe a new set of shocks are in order.

28 psi on all 4 corners. I've tried 32 psi. I've tried 26 (recommended cold weather psi)

Go for a softer tire. Tires with 10 ply (E rated) sidewalls ride harsher than Passenger rated tires.

i heard from one of my old bosses, buying the cheapest crappiest shocks money can buy will work. or maybe you can drive around with an extra 200 lbs to help dampen the hits. also, buying p tires vs LT tires also softens the blows. and don't forget, taller sidewalls will also act as extra cushions. larger tires as opposed to low profile.

Toytec coilovers. Height adjustable Bilstein's. 265/75/16 MT. TRD wheels. Rebuilt r150f. Marlin clutch kit. All kinds of new parts...
Weight in the back helpst. These trucks just ride like that. Light, able to haul stuff. I put toytec adjustable coilovers on the front of mine. Eibach springs and billstein 5100 shocks. Rides really nice, better than stock up front. When I put about 500# in the back it rides a lot better!

yes front and rear springs plus new struts. ive driven many other trucks and none of them felt like this. drove my buddies Tacoma today and it's a tad smoother yet nowhere near tolerable. ill be buying a daily driver soon and this will be my weekend warrior I guess.

Prerunner or 4x4. Prerunners ride rougher than the 4x4's.

Beyond the fact that it is a light weight pickup with a raised offroad suspension so there is only so much you can do . . . that said, I had a pickup that was just flat dangerous not to mention uncomfortable to drive, I now have a pickup that I am quite happy with how it rides/handles. Now, it cost about $1600 in parts and a lot of my own labor [or about another $1000 labor if you hire it all done] but check this out if you haven't already? About post 28 on . . .

You could play some soft music while driving. Could " soften " the ride. All joking aside I am looking for a camry or corolla to bomb around in for a second car. Easier on the back and more time for wrenching on it! Lol
