Saw a guy at the mall the other day with a dropleg...and the straps were on either side of his knee joint. Myself, and my former USMC/contractor friend and his PD girlfriend all agreed, if it went down, we were running the opposite direction from him.

Got a fun one here, it's a bit longer and I'm sure i'm all over the place here. I hope it's not too confusing.

i live in a small 4 unit apartment complex in a beach neighborhood in San Diego. Dubbed the hippy beach, ocean beach is know for its eclectic people and even more interesting travelers, expats, and transplants. The guy above me has been in his unit for over 20 years, i've been in mine for 5/6 years, the person next to me was there for about 9 years when she moved out. We got a new property management company and they instantly jacked up our rent and slapped a few coats of paint on the walls and new "wood" flooring in basically doubled the rent in the vacant unit and rented it out to the first out of towner with money in hand. Needles to saw i ended up with a total nightmare situation for next door "Neighbors" The woman who moved in filled the unit with 12 people, had someone living in a tent in the yard, and some sketchy tweaker living in his van in the parking spot right outside my bathroom window. I tried numerous times to make a relationship with this person, and see if they could act more like a neighbor and not use her unit and parking space as a cash cow. But shed fly off the handle and scream till she's red in the face, cuss me out, and tell me to mind my business. Shed trash the communal area, leaving cigarette butts, beer cans and wine bottles outside and just general trash everywhere. The property management couldn't? or wouldn't? do anything, citing tenants rights, Even after being made aware of the van dweller situation, I don't have a problem with people who live in their vehicles, living here at the beach they are everywhere, but are mostly clean and respectful, but this dude would get high and scream, on the phone, sold drugs out of his van, would get hostile when I'd try to get into my truck and he'd have to move his shit from my truck or close his door. But luckily one night he got high as shit on bad meth and had a fight with the wood fence that surrounded our alley neighbors at 3 am and got hauled off to jail. Things simmer down for a minute and the hippy commune next door looses a few members, those who stay are great! Way better than the woman who "lives" there and is on the lease, the nice hippies actually want to make the complex fun and keep it clean, and are mellow and just surf and go to work. But sadly the original nightmare hippy comes back from her travels and kicks out the nice subletting hippies and turns her unit into an airbnb so she could make even more money on the place so she can continue to travel. I come home to random people in our courtyard, parting at all hours of the night, mistaking my unit as the airbnb and trying to enter and pound on the door at night. I find the listing for the next door unit on airbnb and screen shot everything, try to talk to the original tenant about it and try to reason with her because it's a big no no in out complex to sublet the unit or convert it to an airbnb, i get screamed at and told to fuck off and to go back home, kook! I don't belong in Ocean Beach. I thank her for her time, and go home. I call the property management company, explain the situation again, talk with my neighbor upstairs about it, then send over all the proof about the illegal short term vacation rental. the next morning I wake up and our unit complex is peppered with notices that it is a breach of our lease agreement and not acceptable to rent out our units, I look to the neighbors unit and see a large manila envelope stuffed in their screen door. immediate notice to vacate! 2 weeks or so grace period to move out, and numerous fines. On the final day of their move out she comes over to my place, pounding on my door, threatening me, telling me to watch my back and don't be surprised if my truck gets fucked up, saying i owe her money because she was fined x amount a dollars a day for every day her unit was listed and that because of me she wasn't able to go back home to ohio to see a dying family member, and that she is moving two complexes over and will make my life hell until i pay her back to 8-10K she's owing. flash forward a few weeks I see her at the grocery store, and I ignore her and get in line to buy my stuff, she blows right passed me and clips my shoulder with hers, i brush that off because I obviously don't want to create a scene in the store, she then precedes to turn around and bunch me in the back. I see here every now and then, have found trash/crap stuffed in areas of truck every now and then.

thanks! I try, i like to give people the benefit of the doubt. But the best part of being rational and patient with her was shed get even more mad, and flip out because I wasn't giving in or stooping to her level. It really made me laugh, she'd scream at me and I'd laugh in her face and she would lose her mind. I thought I was going to kill her by her suffering an aneurism from screaming at me. She had her friend from out of town park in our spots once, and me and the new cool neighbors that took over her unit got them all towed. That really showed them, and backfired in their faces.

My downstairs neighbors stole $200 worth of tools out of my truck. My bad for leaving the tool box unlocked. Told my apartment complex and they said don't worry, we will file a police report. That never happened...
Then new tenants move in below us and as we are packing stuff out to our cars we catch the dude looking into our vehicles to see whats in them several times. So glad I'm out of that area of Kansas City now...

I moved to a house that I am renting about 2 years ago. It's in kinda a weird place, it's sort of an industrial park, if you can call it that, it's NH so it's still quite residential and rural. I know the owner of the house and he was looking for a tenant and I got a really cheap price on the house. Anyway, the neighboring house is an unbelievable junk yard. Basically when I tell people to come to my house I say look for the junk, I am the next house. This house has a 40 foot park model trailer that is backed up tight against it and a hole cut out of the house to make the park model part of the house. There are sheets for windows since they all have broken glass. I drive by at night and there are no lights on other than a string of solar Christmas lights that go in the broken picture window. So there is no power which means there is no heat which means there is no water.

I am in the house no more than a month when I notice a few times when I get home that my door was left unlocked. I have been robbed before at my house and I NEVER NEVER NEVER would leave with the door unlocked, but I don't jump to conclusions so I put a coin in the door jamb before I leave the next day. When I come home the coin is on the ground, someone opened the door. I call my landlord, it wasn't them. I have been wondering why my kitchen floor has so much dog hair on it when I get home, now I know that someone is petting my dog when I'm away at work. I call the cops and they show up and say, "we've been here for you before for the same thing, correct?" I tell them no, I am new here, the cops says, "well, we were here for the guy that lived here last for the same thing and we know who it is." He tells me the neighbor is mentally ill and very slow. He tends to break into peoples houses just to stay warm, watch TV and use their water. He never steals or takes anything including food. So he was petting my dog in the kitchen (think Lenny from Of Mice and Men) and living in my house when I was at work.

So the moral of the story comes down to one word- DEADBOLTS. If you do not have deadbolts on your entry doors, do it NOW. Guy no longer helps himself to my house, you can't get in without doing damage.

Wife and I moved into our house 3-4 years ago. Neighbor "A" on one side doing a nice renovation, Neighbors "B" on the other are either drunk, high or both and constantly fighting. I do my best to get along with them rather than cause issues. Our house was a rental for a few years before we bought it and the renter's had done some pretty tacky "landscaping" including a novelty fire hydrant in the front yard and rock borders around our trees. We did a lot of clean up after moving in including removing the rocks from the trees and others buried under 10 years of oleander leaves, they were nice rocks so I built a fire pit in the back yard and mortared everything together. One day Neighbor "B", says "Hey Ben, you got a second?" through the bushes between our back yards. "I said sure, meet you out front". He then accuses me of stealing his rocks out of my own yard! I said "Look man, I'm not sure how something in my yard belongs to you but my wife moved the rocks into the backyard I'll bring them out front for you". I brought out what was left after building the fire pit. Neighbor "B" never said another word about it but a couple weeks later his GF tells us those weren't the "right rocks". So apparently I used the right rocks to build my fire pit. I guess I'm an asshole, but it brings me a little extra enjoyment out of my fire pit every time I enjoy a beer next to it.

Same neighbor offered to pull out the 12 oleanders between our houses when I told him I was building a wall and would be paying a landscaper to remove the bushes. I wasn't in the mood to argue with him so I said "OK, cool". MF'er tried for 2 weeks in the Arizona summer to pull one oleander out with his Jeep, then his GF's 2wd Silverado, then his buddie's F250, and finally an engine hoist! The root ball finally pulled out but pulled up his driveway slab with it. Stubborn bushes!

One day last summer I heard shooting coming from my neighbor's house, a half mile away. I grabbed some of my guns and ammo and drove over and joined them. Gotta love country life.

Range day at the neighbour's. I can relate. Years ago they wouldn't even phone...3 12gauge rounds and I'd be over there.
