Not crazy like others, but my wife and I bought our house about 4.5 years ago. Most of my neighbors are pretty nice people. Several retired and several work from home like I do. I did hear that my next door neighbor is an elderly woman that was the original owner of her house. I think it was built in 1954. My house was built in 1953 and was also told the lady that lived in my house was the original owner. I wasn't warned, but my neighbors gave me a heads up that my neighbor will watch for me walking around my yard. And when she does spot me, she will probably complain about something.

So, we have several large trees in our yard. I honestly couldn't tell you what kind of trees they are. My yard also has a lot of landscape that runs along the elder neighbors side. All kinds of flowers and shit grow. Looks nice in spring, but shit during Summer because of weeds. Anyway, one day she came out and complained about one of my trees that were spitting off seeds making things grow in her lawn. Her lawn is pretty immaculate though. She went on for 10 minutes yelling at me and my trees. She said that I needed to cut it down. I kind of had a blank stare because I literally just met her and also I had no idea what she was talking about and I had no idea which tree it was coming from. I then asked her, why couldn't she just tell her old neighbor back in the 1950's to not plant that type of tree? I thought it was a legit question because pulling out a small tree back then would have been free rather than me paying money cutting down trees that were like 50-60 years old because she hated it. She just grunted and walked back into her house.

She's still there but now has live in nurses. She never comes out anymore, but her yard is still immaculate.

I heard about that...I always tell people about FT Phantom lake...seems like every time the water level goes down/drought situation they find the remains/bones of someone that got dumped there. Last big news item was when they killed a duded at the boat ramp and just rolled the vehicle and dead guy off into the lake.

I swear my one neighbor, who's about 75, mows 1 strip of grass on my property every time. I like my grass at 3.5" and he likes his grass at 3.0". I don't even think he tries to avoid it. He just mows that extra strip like possession isn't 9/10ths of the law.

Any chance we can see a pic of this rock wall? This sounds like something I want to do.

Sooooo... I have many stories but I will only tell one.

Before my wife and I bought our house we lived in some average at best apartments. We were living in the building with the 3 bed 2 bath apartments and most of them were full of families with kids. (no big deal because I had 2 daughters of my own) over the period of the first few months we could hear a lot of noise above us and it finally got to a point one night where we talked to the parents the next day and said hey we understand you have kids but could you please try to keep it down after 10pm. No problem said the husband. Well a couple of weeks later and it was a Friday night we we just hear pounding and what sounds like fighting and its like 11:30 or midnight. Go up there and their 9 year old daughter answers the door and I'm like hey can you guys keep it down. shes like sure. 15 mins later it starts back up and gets louder and I walk back up there and I'm like hey are your parents around, because she answered the door again. shes like nope they are working like normal.

This is where I feel like kind of a dick head but not totally...
The 9 year old is watching her 4 other brothers and sisters who range from 8-1 year old.
I called the sheriff because the noise was so bad...
Come to find out both parents worked swing/graveyard shift jobs and left the 9 year old in charge.

Needless to say there was a conversation between the neighbors and I the next day and we moved out 2 months later partly because of how shitty they became after that night... including having their kids throw gum over the rail that my kids were stepping in all the time..

Definitely not a dick move; the situation you describe is absolutely child neglect. I’m sure the family was in a difficult financial situation, but not safe to leave a 9 year old in charge of those kids overnight.

Getting CPS involved with families like this saves kids’ lives.

That was the hard part... I myself have been a single dad with custody of my kids needing to make ends meet but yes I agree with you that this was a form of child neglect.

I live in a farily large town from Maine, my friends call it the city, since we have 12,000 people. But I live on the edge where you can hunt and my neighbors have a farm and whatnot. Anyways, my neighbors rev their Chevy at all hours of the night. Like 1AM on a Tuesday. It's loud. Someone threw an unlit molotov cocktail in the road. Some neighbors shot a gun over drugs, and the same house, a 17 year old threw a party that was one of the biggest underage drinking party busts in the area. New Year's Eve of last year. It was BITTER cold, in the negatives (Fahrenheit) and when the cops showed up, people ran out in the woods and the cops just set up a workstation inside and started citing everyone still there, and just waited until the ones in the woods got too cold and came back inside lol.

There are laws against people acting like this. I say have him charged with making terrorist threats and get his ass shipped off to Gitmo. There are also other options, but we won't discuss those.

I like mine too, don't get me wrong...but in moderate doses (holidays, occasional visits, etc.)...living next door to them would be something else entirely though

10 years ago we moved into our house. Nice old man 2 doors down got tired of living with his meth addicted daughter (or granddaughter I guess) so he put a gun in his mouth and blowed his head off. We have nice neighbors, now
